Do you think that our government's social security just says no at the first 2 levels to wear many down to avoid making entitlement payments to people that actually need them? I wonder why there is so much worry about having hearings to embarras the other political party more than our congress worrying about the psople they need to vote them into office. Are you aware that the attorneys are limited to the amount they can make, regardless the time spent to defend a client to get benifits? Is that to try to reduce the amount of attorneys want to defend people needing the help in the claim of trying to keep most of the money for the client? I heard in Ohio 97% of claims are denied at the 1st level to those that dont have any representation? Personally I think thats horrific. If there is a "just say no" dept, how can any indivdual do such a thing to people in such a thing to another person, just to collect a paycheck? And yet we worry about everyone else in the world but our own!

Civil cases in this country are nothing but shakedowns. Since the plaintiff imposes the cost of defense as well as the amount of the suit, the defendant is out thousands of dollars, even if they win. If we made the losing plaintiff pay the defendant's legal and court fees, (loser pays) it would certainly make people think twice before filing an obviously frivolous lawsuit. So why don't people demand that we adopt it?

That if Bush had not invaded Iraq, put more troops in Afghanistan, we would be really liked. Most people felt bad for us after 9/11. It was the first time when most countries wanted to help us. We ruined that respect when we entered Iraq two years later. I have talked to many people from other countries, and every one of them says the same thing; Iraq ruined your reputation over here. Bush's approval rating was in the 80's before Iraq, and had he not gone in Iraq, he would not be causing as much controversey, and he would be an average President.

How can we get our reputation back from this disaster?

Why is it that people always try to talk about politics in absolutes? Why do people have to "belong" to one group or another? It's always "Liberals/Democrats hate America, and ALL libs/dems hate America," or "Conservatives/Republicans are religious nuts, and ALL cons/reps are religious nuts." In the House and Senate, if a "Democratic" bill is up for a vote, then almost all of the democratic representatives or senators will vote for it and almost all the republicans will vote against it and vice versa with a "republican bill." I understand that it's all about power and "if you vote for my bill I'll vote for yours," but it's just a silly way to run a government if you ask me. And all you ever see on fox news or cnn is generic conservative talking head shouting at generic liberal talking head. And why is it that if someone actually thinks for themselves and develops an opinion about things that's not based on their political affiliation, they're loo

I accept the concept of innocent until proven guilty. However, I have enough faith in our legal system to believe the average person brought to trial actually committed the act they are accused of. I think most of the time the jury trial system is more about determining whether the act was actually a crime - or whether the act meets the legal definition of the charges filed.

I also believe our legal system would collapse if we were not able to believe this. What are your thoughts?

I have to conclude that at least a portion of these political and Bush-defending posts are by those with a great interest in improving his poll numbers.

I just wonder how many. Thoughts?
