With all the people that are focused on the war in Iraq, from Bush and his cabinet to the military commanders, why can we not come up with a specific plan of action instead of just trying the same thing with more troops. It is obvious that the current plan is not working. Why are we not changing things if the current plan is not working?

Can you validate this claim? Or are you just being a parrot because you wan't so badly to disagree with anything Bush says or does?

---

And are we to think that no iraqi's want to be able to freely choose the gov't which they live under? Are you saying all Iraqi's are would be dictators, or subservient people?

---

If you are going to cite a poll, please make sure you also cite (or link) the exact questions which drew the conclusions you are going to cite. Zogby has proven in the past that the answers to its questions can lead to only a few deductive results.

For example: "when should we leave iraq?" results, "98% of soldiers want to leave iraq"

How long will they be sucking the life out of our military, and how can he Bush justify allowing this? Why are we sacrificing our troops to "Rebuild Iraqi's neighborhoods" (in the words of GWB) when we are less safe from terrorism than we were on 9/11? The US is sapped out. If we can't or barely can protect our own country, how are we supposed to protect others? Note that the majority of the head of our military are saying a troop surge in Iraq is just like trying to put a band-aid on a gaping wound.

...Arab Christians (around 35,000,000 People) face more and more oppression when US and Allies continue to target Arab muslim countries. I'm not saying that there aren't a terrorist threat over there...but i'm saying that Arab Christians usually support US policies while opposing their own goverments at home, and hope that the US will back them, and they never do because of the Israel (Zionist) deal. Do you think this issue should more important to the US Admin?

the last two persons who've had the most important job in the known UNIVERSE were both users/abusers in their youth. I know this is a question that "makes
a statement more than asks for an answer," but I DO want some thoughtful response here. Shouldn't the "past drug use" question be a lot less emphasized if not eliminated?

A. We should cut our losses and have our troops return home.
B. We should stay ONLY to train the Iraqi Army
C. Troop Surge - let's WIN this war

Who should pay for rebuilding Iraq?
1. The United States should help rebuild Iraq and give them aid
2. Iraq should use their oil money and pay for it themselves

(I am in favor of C and 2)

I mean, their philosophy is that if the illegals are cut off, they'll just go home. I counter that with the belief that the illegals would just get more belligerent and eventually start rioting; they don't have anything else to lose. What do you think?

Just wondering how many Republicans still believe in this president and his decision making. Just curious, as I come from a family of Republicans, and they are mystified as to what in the world he is doing. My dad was so angry last night when I talked to him, as he has always been a Bush supporter, but says he needs to accept the help of others, as his current plan obviously has been a disaster.

They probably have about a 50/50 split of conservs vs. libs
Commentators and guests.
Where all the other networks might have 1 conserv. commentator and extremely few and far in between conservative guests.
Fox News = Fair and balanced. If anything, too liberal at times!

Here is my thinking:
2 years from now Iraq will still be a disaster (clearly -- nobody thinks it will be over/better in 2 years -- even the most optimistic)

The American people will be even more sick of the war than they are now (as shown in the mid term elections), and will want someone who promises to withdraw soon (regardless of your opinion on the matter, this is what the bulk of the people will want)

The Democratic candidates will all be able to promise that. The Republican candidates will be in a bind -- they clearly would like to say "the war was bad, I can get us out better than the Democrats can). But it will be awkward for them to criticize a sitting president (ie say it was a mistake to send the extra troops) -- and if they try to they will loose his support on the campaign trail. It seems like they will be forced to have an awkward "I support the Presidents actions in the past, but now it is time to get out" -- it just might be a hard message to run on. Thoughts?

The adolescent name calling, I mean?

Do some people actually believe/expect that they will help resolve any significant political issues, or raise unique, new points of view on issues?

Or is the bulk of the activity here in the Politics section just a lot of hot air and "I know you are but what am I?"

How would a former history teacher/professor of yours react to the majority of the postings here?

And oh, here's one: anyone in here a history major?
(I did take an honors class in modern European history)
