I say we have a multi faceted offensive. Active deportation, attrition, border enforcement, elimination of anchor babies...which should NEVER have happened to begin with, elimination of all social programs. Meanwhile the US should bring pressure to bear on Mexico to improve living conditions there. That would go for the catholic church too. Cardinal Baloney can start ragging on the Mexican Government instead of ours. While he is at it he can cough up some dough from the collection plate if he feels that strongly about it. It's not like the church is poor now is it?
Besides the illegals would not riot because they are law abiding good hearted people, just ask Bush.

They can riot if they want. They will just end up getting arrested and deported.
If we cut illegals off (no housing, no jobs) are they just going to hang around in the streets rioting all day? I think after about a week, they would realize they are better off going home.

Yes for the ones who are just looking for work and no for the ones who are willing to sale drugs and rob etc. I don't think that we should avoid the issue because it will cause riots or trouble with the illegal population. The libs from both parties have proven this approach doesn't work. Stop trying to appease everyone and be assertive. It is our country, our laws and our right (no responsibility) to defend our way of life.

I think that there will be trouble from any attrition strategy. But I think there will be trouble if we just start deporting them too. I'd still deport them given the chance. Would cut there numbers reducing the chance of any serious trouble.

Well, it hasn't worked for the last two decades. I assume it won't work now.
The problem is that there are various aspects at work. There are the whiny people who lost their job, lost their benefits, lost their girlfriends, et cetera. Then there are companies looking for efficiency, or just someone to employ. Then there is the government that has to please everyone. To be honest, most Americans would rather ***** and moan than to do something. So, the government tends to side with big business.
Attrition won't work because companies have no reason to enforce it. It is actually counter productive from their point of view. And also because the people that push it are not able to contribute to its enforcement.

I think it is better than the current plan. If we actually stop further inflow, we can open discussions again. If they riot, they'll lose any mainstream support whatsoever.

I think after they alienated most Americans by waving the Mexican flag, they'll be very careful how they act from now on
