The adolescent name calling, I mean?

Do some people actually believe/expect that they will help resolve any significant political issues, or raise unique, new points of view on issues?

Or is the bulk of the activity here in the Politics section just a lot of hot air and "I know you are but what am I?"

How would a former history teacher/professor of yours react to the majority of the postings here?

And oh, here's one: anyone in here a history major?
(I did take an honors class in modern European history)

When posts turn to name calling, it is best to just ignore it (or report the offender). They make it difficult to have an intelligent discussion about actual important issues, and they probably don't care what others think about it.

(Oh, and I am a history major.)

It will never stop, people will never realize that with all this bickering and name calling they have effectively paralyzed the public from bring about any real change, or even at a bare minimum allowing this so called democracy to work on behalf of the people.

It is in times of social division that the government is best able to seize control and strip us of our voice, our liberties and our power.

Yes it's unfortunate that it has gotten to this level. I used to enjoy debating people with differing view points but now name calling has turned me off to that. It would be nice if we could discuss our political views and be respected if not agreed with, I guess berating someone is more stimulating than engaging them in intelligent conversation. Good question.

I think a lot of people use this forum for anonymous venting. I'm sure most of those engaging in name calling would not have the guts to do so face to face. As long as all they do is rant, it's harmless.

How many people on here feel the need to bash their esteemed leader? That should be the real question.

when you have nothing of substance in your argument, you MUST engage in ad homonym attacks...most of these "responses" go to the person, not the argument. and when you ask "how many more people will Bush kill", you assume he is actually guilty of murder..he is not
