If a parent dies than the child is sent social security checks each month until they are 18. Is the amount of the check the same for everybody or does it matter how much the parent made? Is the remaining parent suppose to save the money or spend it for food and stuff?

I ask because my grandmother (father of my dead dad) said "oh, you must have so much money saved away for college from your ss checks." And I didn't know what she was talking about. My Mom and Step-Dad used it.

We recently had an IT system installed for document control. This has the usual username/password control. But what freaked me out was seeing that the passwords are not only stored in clear text in the database, but they're also shown to the admin girls! I've had to change passwords on other systems now, to ensure the integrity of those systems.

The supplier contends that we did not specify password encryption. But I'm sure there's something in the DPA which says that information should be kept secure, so therefore he should be doing it simply to comply with the law. Please tell me where, what clauses etc apply if this is the case.

Thanks

My nephew got into a fight with someone for breaking into his home and stealing some of his items. He broke the guy's jaw bone and the two of them are the same age. He was arrested and charged with assault to a minor. Can someone tell me if they know if he will face serious jail time?

There are people who literally spend their whole lives on welfare... I'm not suggesting there shouldn't be welfare for people who actually need it like victims of hurricane Katrina, but when someone doesn't work at all in their whole life, and get money for it... isn't that stupid?

a DICTIONARY for Christmas ??

Must we 'dumb-down' our questions to 'help nurture' their ability to answer questions ?

This is ridiculous, and you foolish, yet 'intelligent' liberals NEVER chastise your own brethren for a lack of understanding, whenever a so-called 'big word' is misconstrued or discombobulated !!!
SMILE !!!

Or am I too FACETIOUS ???

Personally and emotionally, I wouldn't mind if abortions are legal. Many people are better off not being born. However, when I look at the facts and come to a logical conclusion, I believe that abortion Shouldn't be legal. This is producing cognitive dissonance. Please, tell me why abortion should be legal but killing a one month old infant shouldn't be. Why can't mothers legally kill their 2 yr olds if they can no longer support them, but the unborn child can die? Please, no god talk or "the bible says this or that." (If you can't offer an answer based in reality without resorting to supernatural presumptions, then your answer will be ignored.) I want rational explanations with valid logical conclusions. Namely--other than safety concerns for the mother--what criteria differentiates an unborn infant from the other infants that makes their death acceptable?

Then a ceasefire could be called between warring factions, civil liberties could be restored, an interim government could be appointed and peacekeeping forces could be sent in? This might allow for aid to be restored and help prevent a civil war that could be damaging to Palestine, Israel, Jordan, Turkey, Greece, Syria and Lebanon.

I am not suggesting the U.S. go in since this is not about the U.S. in Palestine.

Our time on this earth is minor in comparison to the geologic and ecologic timescales. The Earth has endured many changes over it's long history. How is it that we can honestly believe that we can predict cycles of the earth accurately given our limited observable knowledge of what has occurred over the entire history? Accepting this basic concept is it possibly true that scientists who support the man made global warming theory may be wrong, or may have another agenda entirely such as governent funding? Let's not forgot that the whole debate has reversed course in just the last 30 years from global cooling to global warming. This is not a debate on whether global warming is occurring, but rather a question of cause and effect.

Wondering what prisoners actually had to do. When I was there the jobs were just cleaning, kitchens and workshop stuff and there wasn't enough to go around. I would have much preferred to have a job to make time go quicker.
