i'm a US citizen and lately I've going to juarez, mexico more often than usual, and every time crossing back to the U.S. it seems i am being profiled by BP agents getting checked everytime, and being ignorant by asking me questions like "where's the dope and **** like that", just wondering what constitutes them doing their job, and when does it becomes a civil right violation or a law violation or does it? just wondering, can't seem to find the answer, maybe u can help?

To begin, if you're talking about when you return to the United States then the officers that you mean are U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers, not Border Patrol agents. Border Patrol agents work between ports-of-entry, not at the ports-of-entry. This is a major distinction that needs to be understood.

Never assume that someone is being ignorant because of the questions they ask, the statements they make, etcetera. The most unusual or weird question can have great meaning to the person asking. Basically, if you're not educated in that field specifically then you can't go jumping to conclusions.

When at the international border a person's rights are few. A person entering or returning to the United States doesn't have the Constitutional protections from search & seizure that you would enjoy further into the United States. This because of a law written before the Constitution was written. Long story short, they can stop you, ask and even search without any particular articulable facts, but only at the border.

First of all its US Customs officers not Border Patrol, and there is a big difference. You have to keep one thing in mind, you are requesting entry into the United States and are subject to inspection. On the border the laws are different, than being stopped by a cop anywhere. On the border they do not need your consent to search or inspect. Everytime a vehicle crosses, the vehicles crossing history automatically pops up, and if you cross with great frequency, yes they will check more. But remember, you left the country (and no body "made" you), now upon returning you are subject to search and inspection.

It is the job of every agent to make sure that no one gets into the country that shouldn't be here, has dope or contraband among other things. They are allowed to search and question and if they have a "gut" feeling they are allowed to goad you into admitting what you've been doing. If you aren't guilty of anything then their goading shouldn't matter. Let them do their job and move on....if they never catch you with anything they'll move on to the next person they have a "gut" feeling about.

First thing you do is pull out a AK 47 and start shooting before you even get to the check point.

Next you have your buddy bust out the back windshield and start shooting the border control that is on your tail. This high speed chase/shoot out probably go on through most of the desert. If you was smart then you would have bought that bazooka off the fernendez twins at black jacks hooker joint. Besure to save a couple rounds for your way back into mexico...

I'm going to tell you right now, if you are going to Ciudad de Juarez please be careful. I see on your profile that you are a boy, but I watched something on t.v that hundrerds of girls have gone missing. They later find their bodies in the desert. If you are white it is a profile that maybe you are bringing drugs across the border, cause it is easier for a white person to do it then it is a Mexican.

Get used to it.......Since this has become a political issue, they seem to be more "zealous" than usual.....I too live on that border, and they have profiled me before, when my husband and I used to cross over there, my husband is white and they would never ask his status, but would always ask mine......Like a white guy would never marry a Hispanic woman....Give me a break! And mind you, it was always the Hispanic agents who would do the asking, not the white agents, go figure!

They can ask you anything they want. Are you smuggling dope? If not, don't worry about it.
