Or is it me that can't see the woods from the trees in blindly supporting Bush and his illegal war. God Bless America and keep our troops safe.

I don't quite understand your question. Being that most Americans have no understanding of why we are fighting in Iraq, and if they do think they know why are probably basing their support of the war on misleading and incorrect information, then support of the war doesn't make you unintelligent. The part tha makes a person seem stupid is the unbelievable laziness of people to not go and read enough to understand the issues and facts and use them to form an intelligent opinion.
The truth is that 99% of Americans are either lazy or stupid, or a combination of the two.

The real questions are...

Why is voter turnout so low in this country?
Why do people make decisions on issues based on party affiliation, as opposed to facts? and Why when confronted by facts that prove the opposing viewpoint to be more valid do most people refuse to change their stance?

Is it pride, stupidity or ignorance? Or is it just laziness?

PS Supporting the troops, and supporting the war are two totally different things. You can oppose the war and support the troops, and you can support the war without supporting the troops.

PPS To Holbrook ---- Revisionist history may be a forte of yours, but reality isn't. Clinton streamlined the military, the cuts he made were in programs that may have never seen the light of day and by making cuts in infrastructure to free up more money for necessacary programs and not for experimental, and some illegial programs, as well as cutting into funding for ICBM development, and space weapon programs. Both banned by internation treaties. The lack of equipment falls squaely on Bush's cowardly shoulders.

I wish Liberals would quit talking about keeping troops safe...it was a Liberal, your boy Bill, that put the military where it is now. He did this by cutting funding which kept the military from getting new equipment, which hurt defense. I have not met an Infantryman yet who did not like putting holes in a Hodji and that did not believe in what they are doing...a few pansies that talk on TV does not reflect what the troops think...if you really want to know what they think you should go to your nearest military instillation and ask...I have, and do you what to know what most have said? They have said that they wish THE MEDIA would talk about all the good things they are doing, not the few bad things that have happened...if you do not know any troops, you need to zip it...HOOAH!!!!!!

vertical732...what military were you in? I was in the military during Billy Bobs presidency...and I use the word presidency lightly...most people who were in during this time will tell you the same thing...he cut our pay and benefits...try work a 60 to 70 hr a week job for your country and still have to be on food stamps to feed your family or deciding not to pay your car payment so you can buy your children christmas presents...if that is stream lining then I guess he did...another example...I was at Ft Bliss in 96-98 and my vehicle I was assigned to was from the Viet Nam period...it had the bullet hole to prove it...Clinton was a horriable "Commander in Chief", he sent us places like Haiti...Bosnia...and other places we had no business being...it is real easy to sit at home and say hey Bill is "stream lining" the military, but if your boots are on the ground it is different...I hate Clinton and I hope he catches VD...

You're right - support for the Iraq war is low. Let's say 30%.

That does not mean that 70% want us to leave.

The question "do you approve of Bush's handling of the war" can be answered NO by both those who feel we should leave and those who feel we should use more force.

I'd like to see a poll that gives people ALL the choices.

We must begin to educate not denigrate our fellow Americans .
We need to lift the label of ignorance and provide a table where all are equal .
We must find common ground to come together not the common ground of hate but the common ground of brotherhood .
When all men are free from oppression and allowed to worship freely then change can happen .
It is not up to me to cast down my Muslim brothers belief if he is of a peaceful nature .
Its is those who take up arms that have arms taken up against them .
We are all made the same in the eye's of the creator of all things and man has perverted his wish for a peaceful existence of brotherhood and sharing .

Yes, I'd definitely say that 70% of the population is dumb. However, I'm not sure who precisely is to be excluded from that, since I've seen more than my share of dumb republicans and enlightened democrats. (and vice versa, of course)

Leadership is not ran by polls! It is taking the problem head on and having the conviction to do so even if it is unpopular!
