There are complex reasons why people feel trapped in the wrong body. Many times, these people are much happier after a sex change. It goes the other way too. Sometimes females become males. I feel blessed and lucky that I am happy with my gender, but I've watched a lot of shows on stations like TLC. Discovery etc and transgendered folk really have a lot of anguish.
Sometimes, all of us need to examine our own issues instead of seemingly enjoying someone else's.

Donnie, I think the only Dnger here is that shirt you have on pal. I don't know if trannies are mentally ill, they believe they are women (in some cases women believe they are men) and they will go to an means to get that way. I say leave them to it, just make sure if you pick up a rather tall girl at the local watering hole and she has a deep voice, check for that adam's apple before you take here back to your love shack. They are people who have a genetic problem and people who want to be happy as the opposite Sex. I would like to beg your pardon - I know several of these ladies and they are the nicest people - they are caring - and they are most of all HAPPY -
Some of these ladies are really quite beautiful and have a body that most women would kill for. We have a wonderful and beautiful lady who lives with us and she is the happiest person I have ever seen - and she has dates all the time - the guys never know - because she truly is a lady !

A person who identifies as Transexual would only be considered mentally ill if they have a problem with it themselves. If they are comfortable with that identification and it doesn't impair them from having a relationship with another adult (yes, it's done, quite frequently) then they would not be classified as "mentally ill".

I agree transgenders/sexuals are mentally ill. a major problem is that society sees it as normal. we do need to help them we do need to treat them kindly but to see its normal is the ignorant thing and its not helpful to them, we wouldn't think that depression or bipolar disorder is normal just because they are suffering and there are many of them. but homosexuals are normal, there is nothing wrong with them they dont hurt themselves or anyone else and they are not living a delusion. but transgenders are hurting themselves and they are delusional.
