This is not trying to bash but gather opinions. Please state your reason why you would or wouldn't support a fully Democrat government. A Dem as president, a Dem appointed majority in the Supreme Court and a Dem controlled Congress. Would you think they would need checks and balances, or do you think they would simply do a better job than any Republicans (please don't resort to insults, its just a question)

I know you are not going to say the truth...that Congress was corrupt and did not care enough for domestic issues, and was too stagnant when it came to foreign policy.
So how else do you explain the elections?

My private university held and then opened my mail (a magazine addressed to me)...they did it because they thought it might be porn (it was not)...they gave it to me but I would like to report it to authorities who do I contact? The postal service? A state official? Federal official?

It was announced earlier today that George Allen (R-VA) has conceded the race to Senator-elect Jim Webb. That was the last seat that was in the air. The Dems now have control of both chambers of Congress. Sorry Bushy Boy, but your Agena will no longer be carried out!!

Now, if we can vote a Dem President in 2008, that would the icing on the cake!

The two most important arguments for death penalty are:

F1) It is a strong deterrent
F2) It is essential for retribution

The two most important arguments against death penalty are:
A1) It is not a good deterrent
A2) The law might be objective, but its implementation is very subjective. Once life is taken a subjective error cannot be corrected.

Sorry, I cannot include any religious arguments

I strongly agree with F1 and F2. But A2 is true. In my opinion A2 trumps both F1 and F2 - so I am against it.

Your thoughts?

It's just I noticed in a well known International store a large notice saying.."WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEARCH ANY BAGS LEAVING THIS STORE!!",also a cusion of mine had been on a shopping trip with friends of hers they had been into this store bought items from it, and as they left she was taken to one side by two of the employees, and ordered to turn out her pockets and show her shopping bags, now my cusion is the most honest person you could come across, being the honest girl and she had nothing to hide so did as she was told, when they saw she handn't stolen anything they told her to get lost. my cusion came home in floods of tears. Now I am under the imprestion that the only people that can search you and thats the police, and even then you have to be told why you being searched and it has to be done at a police station, is this right?

My cusions parents are now dealing with the store

Neithers to stay my cusion will not be shopping at this store again

In 1994, the American people, feeling that the country had shifted too far in one direction and being fed up with it, swept the Democrats out of power in both houses of Congress. The Republicans, led by Gingrich and Dole, were given a chance to change the direction of American policy.

It seems to me that this election is very similar. The legislative and executive branches both controlled by the same party, until the people decide they've had enough and sweep the other party into power in Congress, the only major difference being that Republicans campaigned on their Contract with America in '94, while Democrats this time ran on basically nothing except disapproval with Iraq and the "time for a change" mindset.

I believe that if the incoming Dems practice the bipartisanship they're preaching about now, they could stay in power for quite a while, but if they over-reach as Gingrich and Co. did in the 90's, they'll be gone in a hurry. Your thoughts?

The results of a criminal trial can be either guilty or not guilty. After a finding of not guilty, at least in Illinois, the defendant can go back and get a ruling from the judge that, after hearing all the evidence the case basically had no merit. There's a name for this finding - I heard it years ago and can't remember it. I need it for a paper. Any ideas?

Do you think Bush talked to Powell about the Secretary of Defense job?

Why Gates? Here is an exerpt from Fox News about Gates. Is this a reason we shouldn't like Gates in the job or the is this the reason Bush picked him or both?

Gates' resume as a government policymaker is not untarnished. Critics dredged up his 1991 confirmation hearings to be CIA director as evidence he is the wrong man for the job. Then, he was criticized for missing clues about the impending fall of the Soviet Union and for politicizing Cold War intelligence. Those two complaints — misreading intelligence and using it selectively — have also dogged the Bush administration in its Iraq policy.
