To locate an offender within the jurisdiction of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation you can call the Identification Unit at (916) 445-6713. You must provide the full name and the month, day and year of birth or CDC identification number for the subject of your inquiry. This unit can only provide you with the current location and CDC identification number for the offender. The Identification Unit does not have and will not provide any future release date information. This service is available only Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. excluding state holidays. You may also fax your inquiry to the Identification Unit at (916) 322-0500.
Please note that information for offenders recently admitted into or transferred between state prisons may not be available for 7 business days.

Call the county jail where he was being held, they have the transfer records and should have not problem giving you the information as long as you have a birth date and full name. Good luck and God bless

As soon as you learn his DOC (Dept. of Corrections) number, there are websites for each state in locating inmates. He should be allowed at least one free mailing (postcard or letter) to let his family know where he is. After he arrives, he will put names on his visitor's list, and those names will be able to receive phone calls (collect) from him as well. Don't worry, it is a temporary lapse in contact.

go to the California Department of Corrections Web site and pick the inmate locator, you only need the name and birthdate or just call information and ask them for the number it has a 916 area code but i dont know it off hand, easy though

I don't know about in California, but in New York you are given an arrival phone call within 24 hours of your arrival at a new facility. He'll call you then.

if you know his parents asked them. or you can try and call the county jail he was in a asked what prison he was taken to. then you can call the prison and asked for his inmate # so you can write to him. but if your not married you might have a hard time getting any infor about him. good luck
