That. It's actually a very mixed bag, right now, so expecting Iraq to be able to respond as quick as we can, amidst their still incomplete reorganization would be far fetched.

I will admit that gives me a VERY uneasy feeling. Iraq is descending into civil war, I don't think its deniable any more. I only pray and hope that this Gates guy is better than Rumsfeld. Hell, we have to do something about this or it could get really bad. Today in Iraq could seem wonderful in a few years if something is not done to correct the problem.

However, one must consider that their "soldiers" or sorts are ununiformed civilians, as well as their main targets are market places. So one cannot misconstrue these facts to take it as this many people have been killed by Americans. Hmmm....we live in interesting times

I believe the folly of Bush disregarding all career advisers and experts on Iraq in favor of fabricating reason to invade is becoming more and more apparent. There's no excuse for it and the mess in Iraq is one huge tragedy that the US cannot easily dismiss or leave. Too bad it's not Bush and his billionaire buddies that are paying for it in life and cash.

It's probably right. There has been no official death count done (because it's impossible) but the estimates range from 50,000 up. And it goes up every day by 50 or so...

beginning of time & I'm not sure anyone knows how to
stop it. It's disturbing.

So much for the BS number from Bush of 30,000. Time to leave before it gets worse.

it's the same thing that's been going on for thousands of years (the majority of it)... religious factions fighting amongst one another... same as Israel/Palestinians...who knows how you fix it...

it doesn't matter how long we stay... they will always hate each other because their religious text of preference is correct and the other people's text is incorrect...
