What does everyone think of assistance programs from the Government, such as Medical Cards, Health Departments, WIC, and Food Stamps? Better yet, what does everyone think of the people on those programs? Just curious if the general idea is the same as mine.. Thanks!

Bush and Rumsfeld are talking about the need for reinforcements, meanwhile they have rarely ever supported aiding our troops which have been begging since the war began for more weapons and vehicles.
Instead of more troops, more supplies could go a long way.
Many democratic senators such as Kerry have voted to support the troops more with the items they need to win the war in an effective manner. Republicans have not for the most part. This bewilders me.
It's time for our leaders to stop making empty claims.
Since our government claims to support the troops, shouldn't they back up their words through action?

My husband and I and our 8 month old daughter have to be at Fort Lewis, WA on the 19th of November. We don't have a whole lot of money to move on since he just got done with his training. We just found out he will be in in-proccessing for 10 days or more, and meanwhile, our daugther and I will have to stay alone in a hotel and try to find an apartment. Can we secure an apartment before we move there? I know we have to contact the housing authority at the base before any leases are signed, etc. But what would be the best option for us? It will be financially straining enough to pay the first month's rent plus deposit, and if we have to pay for a hotel for however long it takes us to find a place, it will end up being the amount we could have spent to move into an apartment! What should we do? Are we allowed to do this? We thought about getting a credit card, but we have a few small blemishes on our credit history that only allows us to have a small credit limit and it isn't worth it.

Since their resumes are the same and their opinions are bought... Isn't the real reason campaigns focus on smearing the other guy is because there is so little actual difference between the two candidates that this is the only way they can set themselves apart?

Police plan to charge illegal immigrant from Mexico with breaking and entering, kidnapping and rape.

Some neighbors in the area are now worried about the safety of their children and themselves.

"I live in this neighborhood and it's like I come out to take out the trash so what makes you think he's not going to come after me?" said Sylena Simpson.

Illegal alien Inigo Varguez Felix was arrested for allegedly sodomizing a young boy multiple times. Felix got to know law enforcement officers pretty well Thursday night when he was taken into custody, charged with two counts of sex abuse and three counts of sodomy for sexually abusing a boy under the age of 12. "He was doing different construction type work throughout the area and we knew if we didn't catch him there would be a good chance that we would get away because he didn't really have anything to hold him in the area," said Lt. John Murphy with the Baldwin Co. Sheriff's Office.

US has many non-permanent bases throughout the world, leased from the host country by invitation ( excluding Iraq ). Muslims have migrated from the east to every western style democracy in the world, although there might be some muslim immigrants in China, Cuba and North Korea? The Islamic immigrants have permanent, unrestricted, occupation in host countries, the US temporary and limited, occupied bases. Each promotes its own philosophy and excludes integration. So which is the greater silent threat to the host nation?

If you pay for merchandise and they don't deactivate security tags; what are you required to do. I think if you pay them your contract with them is fulfilled. Once I bought something at Radio Shack and no alarms went off until I left Walgreen's. Every head in the store snapped around to look at me, it was embarrasing. I have seen some footage where peoples progress was stopped by security. I am not certain that this was not fiction though. Once you make a valid purchase, I think your obligation to the merchant is over. Theirs is just begining. They owe you satisfaction guaranteed, maybe other guarantee's explicit or implied. You do not owe them anything. Transaction over. You could take the merchandise to the nearest dumpster and throw it away. So why do the think they can (arrest?) you?

Hey, I am no fan of Kerry. Blast away, as far as I am concerned. But keep it true.
I have seen at least 20 comments about John Kerry putting down the troops in a recent speech. First, for most people with a poor education, the military offers one of the best solutions, IF they can pass the test. Once in, they are given specialized schooling to learn a trade. Given the nature of the military, most of these will become soldiers & end up in any war zone there is at the time.
That said, many of the best enlist from choice (my son & grandson) Nothing Kerry said contradicts any of this, and the statement, sadly, is true. The message is get a better education and expand your opportunities.
So many of you added to what was actually said. This is a favorite tactic of those whose position is shaky.
I've said my piece. Now, have at me.

On the one hand, I really do want to vote in November like I usually do....and I'd have to hustle to get it done today, but....

On the other....the polling place where I usually vote is in my apartment building, and lately a lot of my building is a total mess, too much so for it to get cleaned up and ready in time, and people aren't telling the folks who live here--like me--*where* the alternative polling location is.

So I may have to vote early so I *actually GET TO* vote.

But enough about me....what about you guys, anyone else voting early....?

What is all of this malarky about not being able to call illegal aliens illegal aliens because they are people? How uneducated would you have to be to believe someone is saying you are a martian or little green space man because they call you an alien? I implore you to pick up Webster's dictionary and find out what it means.
Alien) 1. belonging to another country or people; foreign
2. a foreigner
3. a foreign-born resident in a country who has not become a naturalized citizen
4. an outsider

This being so, isn't calling them aliens just as politically correct as saying undocumented person?
