I have 2 gay dads and my MOM thinks homosexuality is wrong. (Dad left her for a dude)
My gay plastic surgeon dad gave me breast implants so I am mum on the subject.

Just how are homosexuals being "hush-hush" about their orientation?
Seems more like the gay community is being bashed, discriminated against and scapegoated by the Conservatives in this country, as a way for the Conservatives to further gain control over us all and dictate their "morals" on everyone and turn this country into a Fundamentalist Christian Theocracy. The Conservatives are trying to take away our Freedom of Religion.
By the way using 'preference' is the totally wrong term, since psychologists agree that it is an orientation and NOT a choice or preference.
I would say that by striving for civil rights and being open about being gay, is by NO means being "hush-hush" about their orientation.

You and I both know that it's "wrong." But, you can't judge someone based on their sexual preference. It's discrimination, and again, you and I both know that discrimination is wrong as well. They keep their sexual preferences on the quiet side, so that they can work without being persecuted, go out with friends without being beaten up, have a family get together without parents having a heart attack. I don't think they keep it quiet because they know it's wrong, they're looking out for their own well being.

I'd suspect they keep it secret because they fear the ridicule and hatred they'd receive if it were public knowledge. We live in a 'free' country that is anything but free if you're 'different'. The conservative-biased media has taught us to hate homosexuals, non-Christians, liberals, and others they don't like.
But, it's perfectly acceptable to be a pedophile, wife beater, liar, cheat, petty thief, alcoholic, prescription drug-abuser, corporate welfare recipient, white collar criminal, or any other person who they deem part of the "perfect society".
It's only a matter of time before Limbaugh and other conservative propagandists persuade their listeners to abuse, criticize, torture or even kill anyone they consider to be "the enemy". It's part of America's own version of the Nazi-inspired 'final solution'. -RKO-
