I really try not to get too caught up in the propaganda that's sometimes shown on the news or in the papers. However, I couldn't help but notice that the United States always seems to get a share of the blame, whenever something goes wrong in the world. When did "big brother" become a scape goat?

Is there something wrong with having the judiciary oversee the program (that is, through the use of warrants)? FISA allowed for wiretapping without warrants in emergencies where the warrant was obtained after the wiretap; what's wrong with that system?

Think about it for real, think about who got the better end of the deal. Iraq got invaded by the US and we're getting oil. Also, Bush now has the right to do just about whatever he wants now and legally. That sounds better that oil-thirsty America in Iraq now doesn't it?

Mayor Barletta speaking to the Pennsylvania Press Club. He was wonderful. He is very articulate, smooth, and handsome, not a small-town redneck as he has been portrayed in the media
Here are some of the things Hazleton has had to put up with the last 5 years as thousands of illegals have moved in there:

-- A school playground, on which the mayor played as a child, has been sprayed with gang graffiti and become the scene of multiple shootings and drug busts - all involving illegals. One drug dealer who turned out to be illegal was 14 years old and had four Social Security cards on him when he was arrested.

-- Two murders have occurred in the last year - in a town where there used to be only one murder every 6-7 years - both involving illegals. In one case, four police officers spent 36 hours straight tracking down the killer and arresting him. That is dozens of hours of police overtime.

-- The town's budget for police overtime was exhausted in JUNE this year.

-- In 2000, the town had three ESL teachers with a budget of $500. In 2006, the town has 26 ESL teachers with a budget of $875,000.

-- The violent MS-13 gang has been established in the town and gang graffiti is showing up.

-- Code enforcement officers routinely find 9-10 illegals living in a one-bedroom apartment, with no furniture and mattresses on the floor.

-- The town is now in the red again after Mayor Barletta had cut spending to the bone to balance the town's books. Police overtime is a huge part of the deficit. Hazleton only has 30 officers to police a town of 30,000.

This poor guy had simply had enough. He had old ladies coming up to him on the street telling him they were prisoners in their own homes. He had business owners telling him they were leaving town because they were afraid for their families' safety.

please don't jump down my throat and call me liberal names. i don't know a lot about guns. i've only seen them in cases and i've never held one in my life.

so, obviously, i don't know what it is like to have a gun or feel like it is necessary. there is a lot of dissent about gun laws and i would like to know why the one gun/month limit is bad.

one person told me that if they went to a gun show, then they wouldn't be able to buy more than one gun which makes sense because i would imagine gun shows are like any other show where you might want to buy a bunch of things at a time while you are there. what are other reasons?

Yes, yes, I know the obvious ones, as any citizen of the United States citizen would get arrested for robbery, drug possession, and other common crimes. I was really mad a few days ago because I was... well, you know, having a visit from Auntie Flo... and my teacher did not allow me to go to the bathroom. However, we have but three minutes between classes, and going to the bathroom involves a slingshot maneuver:

=: Classroom
2,3: Class Period
--: Walkway
B: Bathroom

=3===2=
-----------B
=======

Seeing as there are but three minutes between classes, and that one would have to run to get to the bathroom (which, might I add, is always crowded), you would have to be The Flash or else be tardy to relieve yourself.

It all boils down to this. If I'm tardy, I get written up. If I use the bathroom during her class, I get written up (for she refuses to sign a hall pass).

Is she breaking the law by denying a student access to a school facility that is required by law to be there?

Just wonder why is there such a furry about the illegal immigrant issues here. I see racial comments and insults all over the map. Why can't we just be rational ?

MY opinion is:
- Illegal immigrants are wrong, period! If someone need to come to US, do it legally.

- If there is no demands, there won't be supply. So we must punish the employers of the illegal immigrants. They must be fined heavily. Or even take away their business licenses.

- If America really need dirt cheap labor, then through licenses and contracts to foreign countries. But it must be regulated and constrainted.

- If we find that other countries are not doing their part to help blocking the smuggling of those illegals, then we post tariff on their products or reduce aids to them.

There are ways to solve this but I just hope the questions to be rational. Can we ?

we see iraq: the violence is very bad, dozens die each day there. Afghanistan is becoming more violent, now bush is aiming the big gun at iran, do you think dubya will reinstate the draft in his last 2 years to combat the increasing violence, since the voulnteer army is stressed by the increased troop deployment. i hope it stays as a volunteer army, though that would be harder as many push for more troops in Iraq. I AM NOT wanting backlash, just opinions

I dont think so as all countries have the right to defend itself. What if some day america decided to attack a non nuclear country ? Can the americans be trusted? NEVER . The only way to be safe from american invasion is by having nuclear weapons.
