as of next year you need a passport to enter de us via land from mexico and canada. do you also need it to pass de chekpoint areas a few miles from the border towns?

no. you will need a passport to enter the u.s. from Mexico and Canada from a land border starting June 1, 2009. if you fly you need a passport beginning January 8, 2007.

You will need a passport to enter the U.S. from nearly anywhere. You did not say from where you would be coming. You currently do not need a passport coming from Canada or Mexico, and your naturalization certificate will work just fine. Your Argentine passport ceases to be valid for entering the United States. You are no longer a citizen of that country and in your naturalization oath you gave up your allegance to that country. I believe it was poor planning to book a trip without getting a U.S. passport first. Expect delays (and possibly a fine) if you are entering from anywhere other than Canada or Mexico.

Sounds like a good plan to me really. A little like having papers when Hitler was doing his thing.. but still a very good idea.
A few miles vs a 100 miles, what is the difference really.. passport needed is passport needed.
If you don't like this, blame it on those that just keep on coming, illegally. And no, I am not referring to one group of people, so don't point fingers. I am referring to ALL that come here illegally.

Maybe there could be a better way to see to it that those here, belong here, either as citizens or legal immigrants.
