please don't jump down my throat and call me liberal names. i don't know a lot about guns. i've only seen them in cases and i've never held one in my life.
so, obviously, i don't know what it is like to have a gun or feel like it is necessary. there is a lot of dissent about gun laws and i would like to know why the one gun/month limit is bad.
one person told me that if they went to a gun show, then they wouldn't be able to buy more than one gun which makes sense because i would imagine gun shows are like any other show where you might want to buy a bunch of things at a time while you are there. what are other reasons?

i wasn't assuming that it was acceptable to regulate possession of firearms or that people shouldn't be allowed to have them.
it's true i don't own a gun, but that doesn't mean no one else should. you are able to own firearms.
i was asking to know the specific reasons for why this particular issue is bad. because i never owned a gun and didn't know.
i was asking for information, not to make a personal statement of belief. i was using this forum as a source for information/ answers so that maybe i would not just wonder about the things that i was "innocent" of, but go; ask and find out.
and make an informed decision instead of a blind one.

I'm sure every gun toting NRA card holding member will tell you they have a right to bear arms. I have two arms so the 1 gun rule fails ;-)
Seriously, for collectors it will be a pain. For people who use it for sports its a pain. Its usually the law abiding folks for whom it becomes a pain , usually because criminals don't buy and register guns. Its a nice thought on restrictions but its more likely to restrict the good folks as the bad ones don't care about the rules.
Rules around the guns themselves will only go so far. The government, federal and state, along with communities and individuals need to address why people us guns. Tackle those core issues and you'll have a greater impact than a 1 gun ruling.
BTw I'm not a gun owner and never will be. I hate the NRA . But I do see how some people do like to use them for sport or collect and I can respect that.

This is the truth. I just sold 29 guns to the president of the state gun and knife show event. He made me an offer a few years ago and I laughed at the figure. He called back a few months ago and made a much better offer and I accepted it. I still own 8 guns and these I will keep. 4 are hand guns and the others are rifles and shotguns. Nothing wrong with owning guns as long as you follow safe rules at all times when handling them. Also I keep them hidden in the house where few would look for them if a break in were to happen. Buying and selling guns in my state is a hobby and sometimes a very profitable one.

You really do hate freedom... every question you ask seems to elude to Freedom in any form being somehow indecent.
It would take a lot of guns to still be able to defend yourself against the government if it became corrupt. That is what the "Right to Bear Arms" is about.
It's not so people can hunt, or so that people can collect guns. It's so that Citizens can have a militia.
This is not intended to be nasty... it just makes me incredibly unhappy that so many Americans are so willing to throw away everything our founding fathers fought so hard for.

You are focused on the wrong issue. The real issue is: Should the government be allowed to regulate the possession and ownership of firearms. You assume this to be acceptable and are struggling with what limitations are fine.
I strongly suggest that you read the US Constitution and then dig a little deeper in how the drafting and signing members applied our collective right to bear arms.
More importantly, if everyone puts away their guns, how will you stop the people that don't (be they criminals or people with a badge)?

The one-gun-a-month idea is just a back door attempt to erode our fundamental Constitutional right to won guns.
Ask the same about getting an abortion, or buying a book, or a car or alcohol? The difference is owning a gun is a RIGHT in the Constitution of the U.S. If someone doesn't like it, leave.

For cowboy action shooting you need two pistol, a carbine, and a shotgun. Four guns, so a person has to wait four months to start in the game
Most police officers carry at least two, so are you going to tell a Peace Officer he has to wait two months before he can be properly armed.
If Someone wants to go hunting for pheasant and deer. A rifle and a shotgun you have to wait two months, three months if you want to carry a sidearm to protect your family.
How about a limit on how many visits to a doctor or how many miles you can drive every month since more people die because of car wrecks and doctors.
According to Roe v. Wade I have the right to choose and the right to privacy.
KEEP THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF MY GUNSAFE!!!

why should the goverment limit gun sales? they don't liquor to one bottle of hard liquor a month, nor do they cigarettes, and the same department is in charge of all 3 ( ATF ). such laws on server to hamper law abiding citizens, as the saying goes, i fear the goverment that fears my firearms. indeed the criminal element is not restrianed to just one gun a month, for them the streets offer year round round the clock as many as you want gun sales. those who ponder gun laws are those who never possesed, fire or held the responsiblity with them, so it's easy to make blind assertions such as you make and think it innocent.

Many reasons, first being, it's NONE of the Government's business unless I am buying (illegal) Military type weapons.
But if I want to buy each of my Grandchildren a gun for Christmas, I would have to buy one a month for 32 months?
Give me a break.
