"We're never giving up our Mexican roots," said Maria Cantu-Dougala, assistant vice president of Second Federal Savings and an American citizen. "I still consider myself Mexican. That's where we're so different from other immigrants. We just can't give it up."

The United States must avoid "balkanization" and has to maintain its national identity, common culture and common English language "or we will follow the path to the ash heap of history like the Roman Empire," said Rep. John Culberson, R-Texas.

Lets face it: the Iraq war is a disaster and it's not getting any better. It's safe to say that it has deteriated into a civil war.
The Iraq military will not be capable of controlling the violence for at least 5 years.
Here's the plan: Work out a deal with Saddam and let him broker a deal with the Sunnis. If he agrees to this then let him live out his life in some remote Iraq region. Of course it will be under certain conditions.
Split the country into however many regions as necessary with the Kurds, Sunnis and Shiites in their own regions.
Simplistic? Absolutely. But Rumsfield and the President haven't come up with anything better and I'm tired of Americans dying over there for no good reason. It's time to end the war.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - The two-month-old U.S.-Iraqi bid to crush violence in the Iraqi capital has not met "overall expectations," as attacks in Baghdad rose by 22 percent in the first three weeks of Ramadan, the U.S. military spokesman said Thursday.

The spike in bloodshed during the Islamic holy month of fasting was "disheartening" and the Americans were working with Iraqi authorities to "refocus" security measures, Maj. Gen. William B. Caldwell said.

"In Baghdad, Operation Together Forward has made a difference in the focus areas but has not met our overall expectations in sustaining a reduction in the level of violence," Caldwell said at a weekly news briefing.

The gloomy assessment of the operation, which began Aug. 7 with the deployment of an extra 12,000 U.S. and Iraqi troops, was issued at a time of perceived tension between the United States and the nearly five-month-old government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

I will proudly admit that I think Bush has destroyed this country. Not to mention the man is a moron and a weasel. He has made so many mistakes with horrible consequences. That being said, I love this country. The fact that I can say that the president is a moron and not be crusified for it, is one of the greatest things about this country. It's called Freedom. Democrats and Liberal don't hate america, I for one don't even hate Republican. Who I do hate are extreme right wing Conservatives who tell me that I am evil and godless and hate America because of my political views. George W Bush is not "America" he is the president of America. Why is it so hard for people to realize that diffrence?

I have looked and can not find it. Would it be okay if I just remembered the times I had driven and sent the new one in? I had all my hours I just didn't send it in on time. If anyone works at the DMV please let me know if this would be okay.

You are not defending your own personal rights because your rights are not being violated, not by the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, or any other bill or Act.. the only rights you are defending are the terrorists.. and yes that might mean some Americans because Americans can be terrorists too, it's called Domestic Terrorism.... after 9-11 I woke up to the reality of terrorism... and I might dislike Bush and his administration, but I stand behind the Acts and bills being passed for my protection, and having a hard time understanding why people are defending the rights of terrorists, so please tell me why

It's been a little while since this question has been asked. Personally, I feel that the main difference is in the philosophy of live and let live. Republicans would rather have the entire world conform to their ideology or be punished until they do, whereas Democrats seem more willing to accept people for who they are. This is exemplified on Yahoo answers by the vitrolic writings of those who are in support of weakening the constitution and creating a police state and who have absolutly no desire to even consider an alternative point of view. It used to be that the main difference was on social issues. In the times of our fathers the nation was united in defense of the constitution and the bill of rights. There are those whom I am sure will call me a liberal pansy and other names meant to disparage my opinion, however, it is just as valid as anyones. And therein lies the true difference. I can accept that others will have differing opinions, can you?

I know we can't just leave it the way it is now, but from the start, the expectations, the justifications, the planning, the ungodly cost, the fact that there is no end for us in sight at all and the country is on the brink of absolute collapse and civil war, the number of civilian casualties, can anyone argue that the war an absolute horrible mess and that if we knew five years ago what we know now, we would have left Saddam right where he was?
