I am looking for answers on the above question, I am carrying out a study in this area, and would be grateful for whatever input I get.

of course it is important!! it makes the job easier.

ur answer should be somewhere in the line of:
- community policing
- police informants
- claims
- police culture (Reiner)

Support possibly. However, effective community policing must have community involvement and trust. That is the purpose in sub-stations in some crime infested areas. People are more likely to approach officers with information knowing they are in the community.
