Please keep in mind that patriotism is the "Love of and devotion to one's country"

While nationalism is the "Devotion to the interests or culture of one's nation. The belief that nations will benefit from acting independently rather than collectively, emphasizing national rather than international goals. Aspirations for national independence.

Will we become isolationists?

As americans have we been given the freedom to choose? Have we somehow already voted on these changes?

Should we not be concerned?

When are we going to wake up? Or are we as a society just too busy with our personal drama in our lives to take notice? Are we just not in the mood to be inconvenienced with confronting the truths? Are we too busy with greed, watching reality shows that aren't real? listening to faux media? preaching the double moral standards? or are we just simply "obeying" like sheep?

Just where are we as americans heading to?

Hastert must step down! Foley must be put in the slammer where he belongs. At least Clinton did it with a half way decent looking FEMALE who was of age instead of little boys like Foley. Republicans are sick and liars.

But why aren't the immigrants with work visa's working on the rest of the process while they are here? Instead of using the excuse that the visa expired and they did not want deported. Or saying they could not get documentation? That is bull----.

I know several immigrants, some citizens, and some on the path to citizenship. If the visa is about to expire, they go in for renewal and show proof of employment, lifestyle, home life, etc. Then they get renewed. But no, some of them dont take time to do things the right way and get the papers they need. They would rather work under the table and not pay taxes. They would rather not take the time to do it legally. You know right when your visa is going to expire. You start now and get done what you need to get done. Proof of employment, proof of residence, whatever else. You don't sit there and whine that you could not when you are here because you can.

In a combat zone it would seem that hearing damage would result from shooting a gun and from the surrounding gunfire. However, if a soldier has earplugs then maybe he wouldn't hear instructions yelled by his superior

I'm in England, by the way, and I find it hard to follow foreign politics, but I'm interested! Can anyone explain the sort of basic policies and stances of the Republicans and Democrats, and maybe the Libertarians? Nothing too in depth, just an overview! thanks.

I'm just curious on how the Air Force life is, from BMT, to starting Technical Training. I've been to a recruiter, talked to him, he wasn't too informative he just kept showing me pictures of different planes, and he told me what he did, which was some kind of job where he would work with satellites. I'm interested in the Aerial Gunner job the most, and/or Military Police. The whole kind of Special Forces job would be my ideal job, though I don't think im in the physical/mental shape for it right now. I'm not heavy, but a little underweight, other then that, strong & willing to do my best. Does anyone know about those 2 jobs? Also after talking with the recruiter he told me I had to take a practice ASVAB, so I did on this computer that he had, and sadly I failed shy of like 4~5 Q's. I went to pickup the ASVAB Study guide he suggested me after, and i've been studying it since off & on. On base what's it like? Places to meet people, new friends and stuff? Any info is appreciated! Thanks

are responsible for the timing on the Foley scandal? Despite the accounts of several Republican congresspersons and their staffs that they were responsible for the delay. Hastert came earlier today and said he was responsible for how this was handled but would not resign. ABC reported that they did not receive any infor from Democrats (remember this is the network that went after Democrats in their fictional account of 9/11, hardly liberal biased). No Republican has yet stated that any Democrat on the ethics committe was informed. How can people ignore all of that and still try to shift blame to the Democrats for the timing?

Critics of government policies implemented in the wake of 9/11 have argued that legislation such as the PATRIOT Act have undermined many of the civil liberty protections outlined in the Bill of Rights, while at the same time only providing citizens with a modicum of actual safety.Do you think that it is possible to balance the War on Terror with civil liberties or are such protections against increased government police powers now obsolete?
