since most Americans don't consider family values to include sticking it in the butts of underage boys? At least Clinton did it with an adult woman.

Because they are politicians. The synonym for politician is hypocrite.

Because the history of the Democrats is to appease and give in to the whims of what ever baby cries the loudest.
Any time you let the cry baby rule morality suffers.
It is more even now than it was 20 years ago but the Demo's are still ahead 10 to one in appeasements.
We can only hope they will stop trying to appease the Muslims as that is the fastest way to get to WW 3.

First, to accept that Foley's actions are indicative of the entire GOP is just as stupid as to think that Clinton's actions are indicative of the entire Democratic party.

The GOP claims the moral high ground on family values based on thier belief that their ideology is more closely aligned with the traditional values of America, Mom, apple pie, and praying before dinner. In some ways, they are correct. In other ways, they are way off in left field. Their ideology is also narrow-minded in spots, blind to many of the problems we face in America, and an attempt to stick their heads in the sand and refuse to accept that we don't all live in Leave It To Beaver episodes.

In short, they define 'family values' as whatever they want them to be, then claim them as their own. The GOP has done a much better job at defining things to suit themselves. "Unpatriotic" means that you're against the war in Iraq. "Soft on Terror" means that you object to warrantless wiretapping. "Morally decayed" means that you would allow gay civil unions. "Socialist" means that you're tired of getting ripped off by big businesses that overcharge you and pay their executives hundreds of millions. "Anti-Worker" means that you have admitted that we need Mexican immigrants to take the crap jobs that Americans don't want. "Tax-and-Spend Liberal" means that you think we should raise money before we spend it. And "Brainwashed" means that you have more news sources than Fox and Rush.

The reason the GOP has been in charge for so long is (A) they have done a good job of defining the issues and the terms we use to discuss them, and (B) the Democrats can't even agree what the issues ARE, much less what should be done about them, and even LESS how to approach them in a way that makes themselves look good.

That's ignorant.

Remember when former Chicago Democratic Congressman Mel Reynolds received a commutation of his six-and-a-half-year federal sentence for 15 convictions of wire fraud, bank fraud and lies to the Federal Election Commission? He also was convicted of having sex with an underage campaign volunteer. But Jesse Jackson added Rep. Reynolds to the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition's payroll. An ex-congressman who had sex with a subordinate, won clemency from a president who had sex with a subordinate, then was hired by a clergyman who had sex with a subordinate. His new job? Youth counselor.

How about this regarding Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass.? In 1989, male prostitute Stephen L. Gobie admitted that Frank knew that Mr. Gobie had operated a prostitution service out of Frank's Capitol Hill apartment.

How about this? Former Rep. Gerry Studds admitted having sex with a teenage page, yet nobody in the Democratic leadership demanded he resign, nor did he offer to resign. He had a joint press conference with the boy and bragged about their affair. He was re-nominated by the Democrats and re-elected six times before retiring.

You can call Foley a pervert. He is one. But, there's a big difference between the Republicans and the Democrats. The Republicans are not coming to the defense of Foley. The Democrats have defended their own brethren in the past in similar circumstances.

Don't know. Why do Democrats consider themselves compassionate because they are willing to waste more of my tax money on programs that are already funded beyond any reasonable level?

I am a "Working American," but somehow I do not believe that the Democrats include me when they use that term to fan the flames of class warfare, as they so often do.

Because they want to keep the meaning of the word "family" the same as it has been for thousands of years, rather than open it to same sex unions, and because they want to protect the unborn from missing their chance to be in a family, and if they think they want to leave more of your income with your family, if they could only find a way to regulate all your other un-family-like moral behavior without spending a lot of your money.

The same reason why some Democrates may claim this. Some people in both gropus actually are for family values, and some people from both groups say they are but really aren't.

When a Democrat gets caught at being a pervert, no one is surprised. It is expected.
But when a Republican does it, everyone is shocked.

That's why the Democrats are so interested in Foley. If Foley was a Democrat, it would be: "ho-hum". Just another Democrat pervert.

Because they try to get people who want the old family value system to come back, to vote for them.
Don't get me wrong I am a republican, but it seems that ALL! of the parties need to be wiped clean and start over with people put in those posisitions that don't want to be there, it seem that the peeps who don't want to lead often do the best job of it.

So are you going to judge an entire political party based on Foley. If you are that stupid, you must be a Democrat.
