But why aren't the immigrants with work visa's working on the rest of the process while they are here? Instead of using the excuse that the visa expired and they did not want deported. Or saying they could not get documentation? That is bull----.

I know several immigrants, some citizens, and some on the path to citizenship. If the visa is about to expire, they go in for renewal and show proof of employment, lifestyle, home life, etc. Then they get renewed. But no, some of them dont take time to do things the right way and get the papers they need. They would rather work under the table and not pay taxes. They would rather not take the time to do it legally. You know right when your visa is going to expire. You start now and get done what you need to get done. Proof of employment, proof of residence, whatever else. You don't sit there and whine that you could not when you are here because you can.

Avegirl, sweetie, not everything is cut and dried black and white. There are many gray areas in this world and you don't know the many different circumstances that these workers face. The process is not as simplistic as you say. What about an H1B holder being exploited by the employer and wanted out but the employer threatens with witholding the petition? Real life is so much messier than theory and let's give the banefit of the doubt that these people are trying to navigate the gray areas with as much dignity and integrity as they can. (Until proven otherwise, as our judicial system says.) I'm sure no one wants to become illegal.

Agreed. People with visas SHOULD go in to renew. Especially after seeing how hard others are fighting to achieve that goal for themselves. Those that abuse it should lose it, permanently. The amount of illegals, that would rather work under the table just to not have to pay taxes, is small compared to the ones that actually want to work here legally and be able to go to/from their home country to visit with friends and family and not have to feel like a criminal on the run.

I'm not sure how many Americans have actually taken a look at how hard it is for a Mexican, for example, to come to America legally. It can take 10 years or more before they get an answer, and like DAR said, it's usually "no". I don't know of anybody, who's in a bad financial situation and/or has a family to feed, that'd be willing to wait 10 years to almost certainly get a "no" answer, instead of just crossing over a wall or fence. If we made the process easier (of course with our choice of laws/rules), more people would be encouraged to apply.

The dying of the Ego is a on a daily basis technique. to realize the internal being you're able to launch your bias' in the direction of each and every thing. The purpose is to have the means to handle a difficulty without egocentric hobbies. this is addressed in Kabbalah. this could be a query for Spirituality.

It isn't just long, often the answer is 'no'.

We have limits on immigration, and reasons for those limits.
