Of course it is... here are just a few of many reasons why:

Touques, Timmy's, Canadian Tire, Swiss Chalet, eh, Canadian women, hockey, basketball (we invented it), the Great Lakes, Cape Breton, the Rockies, the Prairies, the Alberta Tar Sands, First Nations, French Canadians, the far north, poutine, The Trailer Park Boys (movie comes out this Friday eh!), CBC, freedom of the press and speech (better than most nations), casinos, Niagara Falls and so on.....

Yes, Canada is definitely a wonderful place. Let's hope that the Harper thing doesn't last too long. He may just be a flash in the pan, but I'm afraid of the damage that can happen. A flash in the pan can easily become a kitchen fire and cause a lot of pain and damage, especially when the maintenance to the kitchen infrastructure has not been maintained. Let's keep the fire extinguisher handy - question everything.

For those who don't know, Steven Harper is the Prime Minister of Canada (Conservative Party). As far as the "questioner" goes, let's hope he's NOT a flash in the pan. I wonder who you would like to see in power, Taliban Jack, the do-nothing Liberals, or the separatist Bloc party. In my opinion, there's no contest. As far as Canada being one of the best countries in the world, well being Canadian - yes except for the CBC, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and bilingualism.

Who's Steve Harper?
Anyway I'd like to think Canada would be a nice place to live given all the horrible things that go on in the world. A bit like Norway, or New Zealand. One of those (underpopulated) places that never quite makes the news. That's a good thing! It makes it a safe place in my opinion. What was the last big thing that happened in Canada that made the World Headlines? Oh .... who's Steve Harper again? Oh Crikey - somebody just said he's the Prime Minister. Well QED.

I am a Canadian so I think I have the right to say it can be a bit boring and the people are rather complaisant, but on the whole, it's pretty good. It doesn't try to throw it's weight around and bully other countries. It's great to have Quebec as part of the nation; Canada wouldn't be the same without her.
The only thing I don't like about it, apart from the cold weather, is the fanaticism about hockey.
The only scary thing about Canada is having the great elephant next door,

How J.J. can say Canada is socialist when it has a right-wing conservative government, I don't know, unless you think anything left of fascist is socialist.

Well, I'm American, and I do think Canada is a great country. BUT, it has nothing to do with the government. I think the government is a bit too socialistic for my tastes. But culturally, Canada produces some of the best artists, has wonderful natural beauty, and the people all have a nice, laid-back attitude.

Canadian music is darn good stuff. I'm not talking Avril Lavigne or Alanis Morrissette. More like the New Pornographers.

Definitely. No question about it. Aside from the fact that we have a complete loser for a Prime Minister and that we're neighbours with a country that's not all that popular right now with the rest of the world. Canadians have it pretty damn good.

Of course it is but I am a little bias. I believe for most people the best country in the world is the one you are from. The USA is not bad either no matter what other people say.
