Hastert must step down! Foley must be put in the slammer where he belongs. At least Clinton did it with a half way decent looking FEMALE who was of age instead of little boys like Foley. Republicans are sick and liars.

There is an inquest. Hastert will probably suffer some consequences when it is done.
Anytime there is any kind of wrongdoing the supervisor is usually held accountable. This is in private life as well as in government. Though they don't resign, even Bishops have been held accountable in Civil Suits (though it has ultimately been the congregations that have ended up paying damages). Republicans learned that they did not have to be accountable when Reagan got away with saying that his subordinates pulled off Iran Contra without him knowing about it. This tact does not always work as in the Enron case. It is basically admitting incompetence.
As far as Clinton is concerned that was a consensual affair with an adult. The sex or attractiveness of the other person have nothing to do with it. What Clinton bashers always overlook is that Clinton eventually acknowledged what he did and apologized. If people want to hold onto their resentments after someone asks for forgiveness they are only hurting themselves. These fundamentalist Christianists should read the story of David in the Bible.
The Republicans are blaming Democrats because that's what they always do. They are saying Demos knew about it and timed the release for political advantage. Most probably the Republicans knew about it before the Democrats. In any case Foley's superior and the head of the Page program is the one who should be held accountable. In both cases that would be Hastert.
For those that claim Foley was innocent, if he's innocent why did he resign?

Good try. Turns out the page in question was 18...not 19. However, that's not the big news. It is just breaking (2:45 PM EST) that the text messages were a page prank because they knew Foley "liked" boys...They were just joking around online and the messages got picked up by Democratic operatives. Won't that be a kick in the head for the Dems if it is proven. Maybe that is why the page hired a lawyer....he knew the prank was about to get busted....hmmmmm? Actually, it looks like he got "played" by his friends who goaded him into doing these text message, which eventually got picked up.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely believe Foley is a creep, but I think this may very well backfire on the Dems if it is proven that this "scandal" was a political dirty trick to influence the election.

It was apparently common knowledge about Foley's special interests, but it certainly is beginning to look like they sat on this in order to set all this into play just before the election. People don't like anyone getting set up...no matter who they are...especially when they hypocritcally say it's all about protecting the kids when it obviously has nothing to do with protecting anything except their own sorry power base.

I feel it is stupid for anyone who is Democrat to call for the resignation of Hastert (who may not have had any knowledge of the incidents) when Bill Clinton lied under oath and the Democrat response was "So what?"

What Foley is accused of is wrong if he is guilty- he has yet to be tried and convicted- but he stepped down and will face the consequences.

If Democrats are found to have also known, you will attempt to justify it and that too, is wrong.

I'm a republican and I'm blaming FOLEY and HASTERT. I don't blame the democrats. I don't blame the republicans. I blame Foley for being disgusting in the first place and Hastert (and anyone else who knew and did nothing) for not getting Foley out of there sooner. Do you still consider all republicans sick and liars?

It is an old play and has been run before.Foley may not have even committed a crime.Certainly there is no proof he is a child molester. We don't even yet have proof of where these IM's came from.No one in the Republican party knew anything about anything other than the e-mails which were not sexual and the child's parents did not want it pursued.
The timing of the release of the information points directly at the Democrats.
Gerry Studds had sex with a 17 year old male page.He was a Democrat and got reelected.Do you see a difference in treatment here.

I should not speak for all Republicans but I do not blame anyone but Mark Foley and the breakdown in the chain of command that allowed illegal activity to happen especially to children. I very much agree that he should be taken to jail just like the guys they catch enticing young girls on the internet.
This is no excuse for what Clinton did though...He was the President of the United States and a role model...he knew better.
I'm not sick and I try very hard to never lie.
God bless you!

I wouldn't lump all republicans as sick and liars. Yeah there are a few, but there are a few ppl in any group that can be freaks. I do agree however that the republicans tend to have more manipulation and deciept.

The republicans that are blaming dems is because thats the only thing they know to do. Maybe just just listen to too much Rush Limbaugh. Who knows, Some people are such right wing bigots with their holier than thou attitutes, they cannot admit fault no matter how glaring it is.

Why could we could desire to forget with connection with the Foley Scandal. Haven't you kept up!! Eighteen is no longer considered a little boy which means nothing illegal happened.... As far as Clinton, forget Monica (She was willing) but Kathleen Wiley didn't want to be fondled,Juanita Broaddrick said he raped her ,Eileen Wellstone was assaulted, 22-year-old woman at Yale (did not want name disclosed) fondled this list goes on until there are 30 allegations of assault or rape.. Don't forget about Studds and the "little" Page he has sex with... I could go on and on you need to get off your "we're so moral " horse and face the facts, there is plenty of disgrace to go around...

Honey-doll...don't hate on all Republicans. I used to be a Republican, am Independent now, but I agree that Hastert needs his azz kicked for letting this perv, loose-cannon solicit young pages. Now that Republican ship is damn-near sunk....But hey, you can't entirely place the blame on Foley (although he knew better!). Who were these nasty little sissies egging him on?? I think they should've been expelled for their behavior as well and their parents put a foot in dey's azzes!
