Couldn't we fix the social security "crisis" by implementing progressive taxation? Or taxing major corporations? Or even cutting a little military spending? The government could support the baby boomers through day cares, elementary schools, and high schools. In fact, there was a huge increase in funding for schools and other childrens' programs in the 60's. And we're actually richer now than we were then, can't we support them through retirement? Why attack social security?

My mother used to say it - it does make a lot of sense but I haven't heard that saying in a long time . Is it too old fashioned is it out of vouge is it still applicable to society ?

Is it somthing we should be more mindful of ?

"The rancorous national debate over illegal immigration spilled into the California Assembly on Tuesday as Democrats yanked an immigration resolution after a testy, partisan exchange that drew an outburst from Speaker Fabian Nuñez.
The Los Angeles Democrat emerged from his office to silence Republican critics who were lambasting the nonbinding resolution.

"We're pulling the bill. You've got a problem with that?" he asked before uttering an expletive about Republican nitpicking and leaving the chamber, slamming the door that joins the Assembly to his conference room.

Democrats wanted a vote on a nonbinding resolution urging Congress to pass immigration reform. It called upon President George W. Bush and Congress to reject "mean-spirited" and extreme immigration laws, referring to a House bill that called, in part, for making it a felony to be in the country illegally. "

"Frustrated by lax enforcement of immigration law, businesses are taking their fight against illegal immigration to court, accusing competitors of hiring illegal workers to achieve an unfair advantage."

"Santa Monica-based Global Horizons claimed in the lawsuit that Munger Bros., a grower, hired illegal immigrant workers from Ayala Agricultural Services and J&A Contractors. All the defendants are based in California's farm-rich Central Valley.

The lawsuit alleges that Munger Brothers had a contract with Global Horizons to provide more than 600 blueberry pickers this spring, but nixed the agreement so it could hire illegal immigrants.

"Competitors hiring illegal immigrants is hurting our business badly," Global Horizons President Mordechai Orian said. "It's to the point that doing business legally isn't worth it."

What do you think of this?

Sir Winston Churchil - He opposed his own party to warn of what he thought was an imediate threat despite all pressure to the contrary he kept it up . A powerful speaker that kept the English people going taunted the Americans to help and kept the entire Empire at his side though very harsh times.

Sir Issac Brock He refused to blow up well heads in Scotland despite orders from his superiors because "he did not join His Majesty's army to do such horrible things" and later commanded the British military in Canada to a stunning victory where he lost his life.

Sgt Sam Steele of the North West Mounted Police - Who in trying to keep law and order in Canada's far north durring the gold rush said "There are many questionable things going on here and it is difficult to keep law and order amongst the Americans who are here but I am confident that these things do not happen on a Sunday". - Just where these days do you hear that kind of honesty ever?

So thats my three and yours?

I can't even imagine how this administration would have handled the disaster had it hit white, affluent neigbhborhoods. We can transport hundreds of military tanks to Iraq but we can't deliver water to poor people in the good ole USA.For all the black people that voted for Bush, when Katrina hit, Bush''s true colors showed up. The people of New Orleans were not treated as a priority. Is there anyone out there that is as sickened as I am. And they say Racism isn't prevalent.

Would it really affect us if we declared our neutrality in a region that seems to be the antithesis of all that this country is about? I like Israel but shouldn't they support themselves? We only get about 10 percent of our oil directly from there anyway. I don't think any of these places, excepting Afghanistan are worth American blood. What are your thoughts? If they do their thing and we do our thing and no one bothers each other, would that be bad?

Or do you think theres no need for panic and nothing bad is going to happen?
