I always name the same one farmer we need food without the farmer there is no Dr no college no automotive industy. No soldier no politican no anything .
Second construction and all things related (achitects plumbers etc) Need food need shelter.
Third Transportation need to get food from a to b so miners smelters assmbely line workers etc.
After this it's up for grabs but I think we as people and society forget about the top 2 a lot.

Mothers, they are the most important and the lest respected. Women who choose to stay and educate and give there children a better and stable start in life are the best people in the World. I know that a career and work is important to women but really sticking a child in day care at the age of three months is just plane wrong.

Every profession is important to the person who is earning a living from it. There's no such thing as a greater profession and a lesser one. You can talk about people in the farming, construction or transportation industry. But you must remember that in one way or other every profession is inter-connected or inter-dependent on each other. You may be holding a senior level executive position in a large company and living in a real upmarket location but just imagine what would happen if your sewerage line gets blocked or if the regular garbage truck does'nt come around to clear the rubbish in your area. Who do you call? So there's no such thing as the most important or most respected profession.

This is a really hard thing to answer really. What job needs to be respected or what job is respected. The job most respected now is star all people love the star Brad Pitt Johnny Deep and so many others TV defines who and what we are sad but true. Now after reading your question I have to go with the framer doing so much for so many and no big pay day.

The Garbage Man. Without the garbage man the garbage would just keep piling up on the streets and there would be disease everywhere. Think Europe in the Middle Ages when the plague was always a fear.

Educators. Without them to teach others, none of the above would be. Even a farmer would be helpless as a caveman without someone to educate him/her about farming (even if the educator is a parent).

Why is there a need to compare all professions? I mean, everybody needs everybody. A man is a part of all, that if one of those professions do not exist, how can we, the human society, exist in a perfect system that we have now? We need everybody! No man is an island!!!
