Would it really affect us if we declared our neutrality in a region that seems to be the antithesis of all that this country is about? I like Israel but shouldn't they support themselves? We only get about 10 percent of our oil directly from there anyway. I don't think any of these places, excepting Afghanistan are worth American blood. What are your thoughts? If they do their thing and we do our thing and no one bothers each other, would that be bad?

I am not an isolationist, however there are merits in your concerns. My read on the situation is, yes, as a superpower with interests in the region, we should have a role, but that we have totally mucked it up, and, with the current administration and America's mindset it is going from bad to worse.
Our foreign policy needs a complete overhaul. We need a policy that focuses on our longer term strategic interests which DOES require a more open, evenhanded approach that can be recognized as fair minded by all sides.

Amen brother!!! I am completely with you on this one, I cannot still get over the women and children being bombed and killed like they are. I am an American and when Bush just flew over New Orleans in air force one for a week made me a believer that this creten was sub human. I don't agree with your multiple Neocon profiler setting answers with back up answerer's on this page either. That is the tactics they use to back people in corners, and force their views that are really only one persons perspective. One person one vote in November at the polls. The oil production is for the Capitalist's profits, and no more it has nothing to do with lives and humanity, like I said before if it was they would kill so many children...They would go in and evacuate them first wouldn't they?

Isolation is no longer an option. Years ago, when we did very little foreign trade, most of American assets were in America. Now that we do lots of foreign trade, many American assets are located in foreign lands. This has contributed greatly to our national wealth.

We project American power to protect those assets.

How would you feel if China nationalized Crest in China or India nationalized Coke operations in India or Mideast countries nationalized all of the American investments in oil infrastructure? The theft of these assets would be devastating to our local economy.

So... like it or not, isolation is no longer an option...unless you'd prefer a big decline in the standard of living.

I have three words for you: World War Two.
In case that's not enough: was caused by isolationism.
Here's some more: If we're not careful, World War Three
will be caused by the same.
And a little more: Then, if there are any humans left afterwards,
we might have learned our lesson.
From the statements and questions made on here, I don't think we have.

Oh, and ignore the thumbs-down, if you will, please, I have a group of children following me around to all of my answers and giving them thumbs down.
