Isn't there some law to keep Walmart from using these practices?
Don't they realize people could get paid better or maybe get benefits if they would just let them go work somewhere else, like McDonald's or some mom & pop store? Why won't they let the "shoppers" go to another local store?
It's like the Hotel California. Can't the ATF invade them, or is Bush & Cheney getting paid to look the other way?

I asked this already but I came out sounding like a total moron. Has Bush's tax cuts, war on terrorism, and crack down on drugs actually improved this country?

Also, I fail to see how the economy is not his fault, considering we had almost a 4 billion dollar budget surplus when clinton was in office.

I'm just frustrated with the news too, I have no clue who to believe anymore.

Aside from the fact that Bush has gotten us into this mess, how are we going to fair? It seems to me that we are between a rock and a hard place. I don't forsee peaceful resolution.

I am watching The Newshour as we speak and they are doing a segment on biased perceptions of the media.

They were just discussing a major gap between republicans and democrats on their view of the 'condition' of the economy. They said that 10-15 years ago, while both disagreed on a solution, at least they agreed on the condition of the economy.

Now they did not state where each stood on the economy but rather that there was a large gap between their opinions of the economic condition.

So, what do you think is the condition of the economy and what is your political affiliation?

PS... My view as a liberal is that the economy is booming ONLY for the most wealthy.. corporations, stock traders, executives, etc... while the working/middle class is hurting. In my state, wages for jobs have decreased while ins. premiums, the cost of living, tuitions and many other basic things have increased. This is not even to mention outsourcing, etc... that is causing the loss of many middle class jobs

You go ahead and throw your rights away but leave mine alone.
if you want to let the government listen into your phonbe calls then ok. if you want to let them stay with you so they can moniter your neighborhood ( it hasnt happened but its the natural order of things) then do it but i with other dems will fight to keep our civilliberties and rights intact. to us its at least a little more thanjust a goddamn piece of paper.

Im sure some of you have already seen this clip, but its my first time watching it myself, and sadly it makes too much sense. There are some things Id like to question about it, however, it is the best *proven* theory Ive seen yet. If you haven't seen it yet, make some time, its an hour and a half long but if your interested in this subject, its well worth the viewing.

Many people seem to think that the recent ruling on warrant-less wiretaps will somehow help the terrorists. There is not an ounce of truth in this assertion, but I guess they only made those comments because they are not aware of the tools at the disposal of the president. There is such a thing as a "retroactive warrant." If you want to tap a phone (presumably to monitor a terrorist), you do not need to go to court to get a warrant, by which time you might have missed the call. You can tap the phone WITHOUT A WARRANT. However, you need to get a warrant at 72 hours AFTER the act at a special FISA court. That protects our liberties by not letting the government spy on law-abiding citizens, and also our security by not tying the government up in red tape so that it cannot protect us from terrorists. It's a win-win situation. The only reason for warrant-less wiretaps would be because the president wants extra-judicial power. So why do people want more than retroactive wiretapping?

After pledging to LEAD the "peace-keeping" force between Israel and Lebanon then subsequently waffling and only promising 200 troops (even Bangladesh has pledged 2000), maybe the next time France is in trouble, we should reciprocate in kind? Pledging 200 to bail out France in the future sounds fair to me. Too many of our boys died over there to bail them out in previous wars when they were unwilling to fight for themselves.
France's latest backout proves they are more willing to appease terrorists than stand with those who have given so much to preserve her sovreignty; all while they snub their noses at us.

When France comes crying because they've been defeated yet again, I'll have little sympathy.
