Depends on why you were on their property. Were you a licensee, invitee or a trespasser?
Need more info because there is a good chance you can sue and their homeowner's policy will cover it.

If you did, then the next step is to contact a lawyer.
If you have spent nothing, however you're pretty much at a stale mate.
This person or entitie's, insurance ought to compensate you for personal injury.

You either let a laywer handle the claim for you, or you can place a claim in small claims court yourself but then you are limited on the amount for which you are asking for. Remeber that you will not be suing your neighbor, just thier insurance comapny but thier rates will probably go up and that could cause problems.

Actually, if they pay property taxes, then the state owns the land. So you should contact the state about payment.
