Isn't there some law to keep Walmart from using these practices?
Don't they realize people could get paid better or maybe get benefits if they would just let them go work somewhere else, like McDonald's or some mom & pop store? Why won't they let the "shoppers" go to another local store?
It's like the Hotel California. Can't the ATF invade them, or is Bush & Cheney getting paid to look the other way?

Is this a serious question? No one is forced to work or shop at Wal Mart. Those who do work there chose to do so. They obviously had other places that they could have applied to. The same things goes for the shoppers. It is pretty rare that your local Wal Mart is the sole source for some item. People shop at Wal Mart because their prices are cheaper.

I'd rather have a wall-mart then a thousand liquor stores with frozen food and almost no produce .
Thinks that's a lie WRONG ,its San Francisco
Our bored of stupid-visors passed laws keeping wall mart out , great idea guys , since Jan 2006 10 Grocery stores have closed that leaves 22 for a population of about 800,000 do the math .
I know its all Bush's fault , especially your embellishment of wall mart forcing people to shop and work there .
Jeeze get a clue dont like a store dont shop there

They don't force us. See, they sell more stuff so people go there to buy more things at one spot. See in my town all there is other than Pic Pac and Save-A-Lot is WALMART! So we're not forced. People work there for the discount. We want even CHEAPER stuff from Walmart!

They do let the shoppers. No one can force you to shop at one store.

They cannot force you to work there.

I want to know where you got this information. If it is the internet, the internet IS NOT RELIABLE!

Walmart does not force anyone to work or shop there. Greed gets people to shop there because they believe the items are just cheaper but as good as more expensive items. Instead of protecting American jobs they save a few cents and say the h with American workers. Just like we buy foreign cars and food the American people like to complain about no jobs but send the jobs overseas to get more on their stock earnings. Go figure....

What came first the chicken or the egg? It's a vicious cycle, illegal aliens come here and depress our wages and then we're forced to shop at Walmart because we can't afford to keep the small local merchant in business.

The problem is that greedy Capitalists only care about making the most amount of money at the lowest possible cost and they don't believe in any social responsibility. They hire illegal labor and have the rest of us subsidize their profits.

What? Since when does walmart force people to work for them? They also have no control as to who shops there either. What country are living in?

What are you talking about?

I can't stand Wal-Mart, and do not shop there. But the only way Wal-Mart forces people to work and shop there is by using their weight to crush "mom & pop stores," withholding taxes from local towns, and by sending manufacturing jobs to China. That doesn't seem to be what you mean, though. I suspect you're pro-Wal-Mart and are being sarcastic. (If I'm in error, I apologize.)

Check out the documentaries by PBS Frontline, and Robert Greenwald (links below).

That line about Hotel California was pretty clever.
