When a person who has committed a sex offense is registered, their name, address with map and picture are placed on the internet. (In California, there is no differentiation as there are in other states. They're all pictured, although some with no specific addresses.)
My question is: is this fair to the family members who live with the registered sex offender that THEIR address is listed, too? What privacy, constitutional and civil rights do the FAMILIES of sex offenders have? Should they be harassed by proxy? What is their recourse if they are ostracized and penalized, too, along with the offender?
Please only serious answers. If you want to dump on registered sex offenders, find another question. Thank you!
