Is USA making Iraqis pay for being occupied? Why is there such shortage of fuel in Iraq? How much oil from Iraq is being siphoned away and is there any law governing this theft?

While people in Iraq are starving... the oil refineries are running 27x7 under three layers of security cover.... One has a right to ask where is the oil going? People in Baghdad have no oil and need to wait in queues for days to get some. Why are the refineries not controlled by the civilian government propped up in Iraq?

I doubt they are stealing oil from Iraq and if you listen to legitimate U.S. news sources they are spending something like 8 Billion dollars a month in Iraq. Of course a big chunk of that goes to Haliburton and other contractors and could be better spent giving locals the jobs that some of the contractors are doing but nonetheless they are spending it not stealing it. Now they are likely trying to establish a Government there that will favour selling oil to them almost exclusively but again from the same news sources it's apparent to most Americans that they will not win peace in Iraq. There is and will be a civil war there for some time with an unknowable outcome of who will be the leading party. As far as fuel, electricity and other shortages, it's because of the insurgents making it too dangerous for people to risk doing the necessary jobs to get the infrastructure back up and running smoothly. It is a mess over there and I hope there will be a peaceful solution and end of the killing soon.

Apperantly not enough...have you seen the gas prices here in America lately! I think it is bad planning on the US goverments part to invade an oil rich nation such as Iraq and have us paying over 3.00 a gallon! We should have prices under a dollar for all the lives that we have lost in that hell hole!

Not much. There is less oil flowing out of Iraq now, than when Saddam was in power. The local Iraqi's are blowing up pipelines and refineries so that the oil does not make it onto the west's markets, and particularly down a shiney new pipe to Israel.

The oil companies don't mind too much though, because their executives are making millions and millions of dollars in bonuses from the artificially high prices.

But yeah it is stealing. In the days following saddams fall from power, Bremmer's CPA privatised the entire country and sold it to the lowest bidders (mainly Bechtel and Halliburton) The locals, (you know the one's that we liberated) were thrown out of work and their stakes in the national Infrastructure of Iraq stolen from them with a signiture from a pen.

If anyone wonders why the insurgency happened, well, how would you feel if you where thrown out of your job by foreign invaders and a foreign contractor was then employed to do your job on ten times the pay that you recieved? You go to see the people and offer them your services, and are imprisoned for no reason, your home ransacked and relatives killed.

No wonder they are blowing up the pipelines!

Oh and 440 Dart Racer

there are MUCH more rapes, terrorism murder, kidnapping and crime in Iraq SINCE the US invasion MORE chemical and radiological weaponry have been used on civillians SINCE the US invasion. the VAST majority if Iraqis believe life is much worse in Iraq now than under Saddams rule.

Betcha prouder'nshit! about that eh?

Randy C. We have liberated them from a murdering dictator and replaced him with hundreds of them!!!!

What the US/UK has done in Iraq is UNFORGIVABLE any way that you damwell slice it!

Why is it that Islamo Fascists want there to be the rule of law when they are being aggrieved but will turn around and blow up a school bus full of kids?

Where were you when Sadam and his kids were raping and torturing Iraqi women and children? Is there a law against that?

Where were you when Sadam used chemical weapons on the Kurds? Is there a law against that?

Where were you when Hezbollah kidnapped two Israeli soldiers and killed eight others? Is ther a law against that?

Where were you when Al Qaida destroyed the World Trade Centers? Is there a law against that?

Why don't you spend more time criticizing terrorist, dictators, rapists, torturers and thugs?

Not yet, but eventually we should be repaid for our sacrifices of freeing them from a murderous dictator.. Hardly any oil comes from Iraq to America. We will rebuild their country. Then we should be repaid by cheap oil prices. Fact is that insurgents from other countries disrupt the flow of oil in Iraq stifling available cash to rebuild and reducing the world supply.

What is interesting is that most of the damage done to oil production in Iraq is done by insurgents. Yeah, they may be from another nearby country, but by doing this they deprive more oil from Iraqis than any other entity.

TBH I am not 100% sure how much they are taking. If they are taking it we are obviously NOT seeing it here. But I have heard rumors of pipelines being built to Kuwait so who knows.

Iraq wasnt about WMDs, it wasnt about oil or money. It was about building a base in a strategic part of the Middle East.

No oil. Most sales are to China and Russian. US used to use more Saudi crude, Kawaiti crude. We are currently using other crudes, some from south america. ALS alaskian north slope is not being used due to the pipeline corrosion probs.
