What temp should the water be?

2007-08-10 05:40:40 · 14 answers · asked by Pink Laydee 3

My son bought one the other day, and we have checked out a few sights, but my question is this.
We have been putting the dead bugs in the tank and he wont eat them, so we tried banana baby food, and he is eating off a spoon.
How do I know if he is full, as I dont want to overfeed him.
How hearty of a lizard is an anole, ( life span, etc. ) for a novice?
We put him in a larger tank, put in some sticks, a bridge, and put gravel in ( darker on one end). My son has handled him daily per the advice of the person who sold him to us.
Any other advice or suggestions would be really appreciated.
Also, this may sound weird, but I dont think the Anole likes me. He puffs out his throat, gets excitable, and has litterally lunged at me from his tank. Is that normal?

I was told between 7-8 with meal worms every other day. But if I put eight crickets in her tank, even if she is not hungry will she eat all of them? Because I don't want her getting sick. Or in other words does she know when she's full or will she keep eating because they are all there?

They say a full grown female chameleon gets up to 14 in. and males up to 24 in. Do they mean the measurement from the tip of the tail all the way to the nose? Or, just the length of it's body? And how old is a Chameleon when it is considered full grown?

When sushi is served, they usually give you little slices of raw/wet pink ginger, to use as a palate cleanser. I was wondering if anyone new if it was safe let my adult Bearded Dragon try it?? Thanks!

I went to an exhibit at a museum when I was really little and they were showing a skink. I remember it being really cute with a very un-lizardlike fat pink tongue and it ate fruit. I've tried Google Images, trying to find a name to go along with it, but no such luck. The only thing I find are the 5 Stripe kind, and I can catch of those in my back yard!

I recently bought a baby bearded dragon and I have it in a standard 10 gallon tank with a screen hood. I bought a 5.5 in. Fluker's brand heat lamp. the softest wattage my pet store keeps is 50 watt. A friend of mine said a 25 watt would be the max for a 10 gallon tank. Will the 50 watt be sufficient? Or do I need to order a 25 watt or lower?

I have been feeding my leo "can o' crickets" brand dead crickets. she usually eats 4 or 5 on 2 or 3 times a week, and all in less than 24 hours. I tried to feed her on friday and she ate half of them. I suspected it was because she didn't like the calcium liquid I've been spraying on them before I give them to her. I fed her monday and sprayed them, too, but she didnt eat any of those. I've switched them out for ones that were not sprayed and she still wouldn't eat.
I'm really worried and really want to know if I should bring her to a vet or something.....

Okay so i'm thinking of buying an Iguana.
I have a wardrobe which am in the process of turning into a home for him/her. Obviously fitted with the correct equiptment. UVB Strip light. Basking Bulb. Tree's, Branches, Etc.
Thing is so many people have negative things to say about these animals.

; 'Oh they are so aggressive & strong'
; 'They require SO much'
; 'They grow so massive'
; 'They have teeth & they whip you'

Okay they grow big, i've seen a fully grown adult face on. But obviously in the pet shop behind glass. So i've seen the size they are capable of growing & i feel i could accomodate that.
They can be aggressive? Well i would get mine from a baby, prefable female as i have been informed males can be more aggressive exspecially with a female owner. Is this true?
& to beat the aggressive factor i would reguraly hold & pet him/her so that she will become used to me, & therfore become 'Tame'.

Can anyone who has experiance with Iguana's give me some advice please

I have a corn snake, I've had him for about a year. I have experience with snakes but I don't know whats going on right now. The snake is about a year old (he was a couple months old when I got him). He is about 2.5 ft.
Yesterday I changed his cage because the one he was in was starting to get to small so I bought him a bigger one. All of yesterday he was normal and he was enjoying the new cage. A couple of hours ago I went to check up on him and when I walked into the room he sprung up and tightened when I walked closer he tried to attack me! I didnt know what he was doing... I put my hand on the glass of the cage and he attacked me again!!! He kept doing that all the time. Then later I checked on him again but then he was really calm, kind of. If I looked close at him he just moved his head up and down really quick a couple of times, then he went back to what looked like sleeping.

I went a couple of days without feeding him, then put in some commercial turtle food. Nothing. He ignores it. I'd even soaked it in tuna fish juice. I tried the frozen turtle food, nothing. He was doing nothing but searching on the aquarium floor for something else...so I gave him 3 worms which he ate instantly. He needs nutrients I know. But I feel like he would rather starve than eat food he would rather not. Should I try guppies next? HELP!
(African Sideneck by the way...)
