Here's the deal: My cousin had purchased an Albino King Snake, during what I would assume was her youth. I'm not sure if she where handled at all during that short time of ownership, because my cousin had decided to up and one day leave and thus put the snake in the care into the hands of a woman who does not like them at all (My aunt) and I know for a fact that the only bit of soical interaction that is offered to her is just from feeding; she was known to bite a visitor and from then, never touched again. I love this snake, and though I cannot keep her, I do want to give the animal the interaction she lacks and diminish that reputation as a 'Biter'. I remember a time ago, I had read in a book for Iguana Care that if the animal has an aggressive side, you can use a stick or something simliar with a cotton-ball attatched at the end, and pet the creature; gradually shortening the stick until it is YOUR hand touching the reptile. Can this be attempted? =/

I am trying to learn more about them to keep them healthy. I have a thermometer but I don't know what temperature to have them at? Also there is a white substance on the tank walls and if you put water on it, it goes away but how to I keep it away? I have a filter system if that helps. Also I have one turtle who likes to stay in this one corner and I hardly ever seen him/her swim. And I have the heat lamp closest to the swim part so should I move the lamp to the corner where he/she likes to stay at? Also I have food pellets and dried blood worms but I never see them eat what else should I try that isn't to expensive? They must be eating them otherwise they would be dead but is it weird I never see them eat. They are about 4 months old.

I posted another answer only 2 people commented. Im getting a veild baby chemeolon for chrismas about 2 months old and i don't know to get a male or female because males somtimes have more of a atuidude but brighter colour and the female are friendlier and not as bright but still bright. The females At the age of two lay eggs and you have to put a pot of soil for her to lay it in but they do not hatch(because they have to be fertalized) and if you do not do that the female can not eat and die. I need info on the cage and lighting and food and so on. I also need a good name too. Can two females or males live together?
Thanks for the info:D

Ok, she is 18 months, so she is still a juvenile, and until last week she was extremely nice and harmless (she is much tamed). All of a sudden she starts being quite aggressive: she bites when you enter her habitat, she sometimes lunges at you when you pass it (especially in the evening). I am puzzled: I handle her every day, right now she is sitting on my shoulder while I am typing this question, she lets me feed her, etc. Where is this aggressive behavior coming from? Is this just a teenage rebellion?

I bought a veiled chameleon for my fiance as an early Christmas gift. It was a mutual decision. We are both animal lovers and take excellent care of our pets, but are completely new to the reptile world and I don't have the slightest clue what to do with it. The girl at the pet store did a great job explaining how to care for it, but I am feeling very overwhelmed and starting to have second thoughts- my fiance, on the other hand, is thrilled with it! I want to give it the best care possible within our means. I don't believe we will be able to provide it with an open-air enclosure, but is there a way we can make its glass tank more comfortable? And are there a few major things we should make sure we do for it? I know that providing calcium is important, as well as avoiding standing water. I guess I'm just looking for a little "chameleon 101" help as I am feeling so confused about this new addition to the family.

Any help would be very much appreciated- thank you!!

I know I need to get a thermometer. But my tortoise wan't moving all that much, I turned off the basking lamp and now he has been very active. Can basking lamps make it too hot? Should I get a bulb with less wattage?

I like to change things around every couple of weeks or so to give them new things to "explore". I'm interested in opinions from experienced snake keepers, not a debate on whether or not to keep a snake.

I have four-two corns (babies) who live together, and two kings-a goini and a banana king each in 30 gallon tanks. The goini loves water and the banana likes to climb, as do the corns.

I recently took in an RES that was found in an abandoned house (the former residents just left one day and left behind everything). The turtle is in good shape, although it hadn't been fed in days, maybe weeks. Anyway, I found a bottle of "Skin & Shell Treatment" in the house, so I studied the turtle and found what looks like shell rot on her plastron (bottom shell). There are two small rusty brown spots with a rough texture. Could this be shell rot? And if it is, how should I treat it?

It's a gift and we will get him the vivarium etc
Would prefer not to feed it mice, but will cope if necessary!
Not a huge amount of space to keep it in - looking at 3ft x 3ft base and any height vivarium...

I found it in my kids' bathroom and I put it back outside. The temp at night is probably at the lowest 35 degrees. When I went back outside a couple of hours later, it hadn't moved. I felt bad, so right now I have it in my kitchen in a container, with airflow, some grass, dirt, and a couple of drops of water. Don't they eat bugs? Help! I would feel horrible if it died...

I own an thirteen year old ornate box turtle and an eighteen year old three toed box turtle, both females who have laid eggs. I had no idea they did when I got them but am now faced with the problem of hatching them. I do not have an incubator and am currently keeping them in a closed container and keeping them moist, they haven't been moved or rotated but i need further instruction as to further care for them.
