If his eyes are sunken in, he's probably dead. Sorry to hear that. Most turtles don't live long in captivity. If you keep the heat lamp on him for a few days, he'll start to decompose and you'll definitely know he's dead. If he's not dead, he won't stink, and he will come out of hibernation.

It sounds dead.

Sadly, baby turtles are hard to care for well. They need at least 10 gallons of water, heated to 75-80, filtered very well, and with lighting that includes UV-B rays.

The diet should be about 25% a good quality pellet and the rest be things like live bloodworms, small shrimp, etc.

The care difficulties were one big reason the petition ot make babies illegal as pets was done. The bit about Salmonella is the excuse they needed to get it to stick.

Now, it is illegal to sell them under 4". The pet store might have made you sign a form, but if they did, they made you commit perjury since there is no form a typical person can sign that allows this.

If his eyes are caved in, hen he probably died :( sorry. You can tell if you tun him upside down on a table--if he's still alive there will be signs of struggle. You can also tell if you tilt him with your hand. If the legs and neck appear limp, then he's probably dead. Most baby red-ear sliders dont go into hibernation in captivity.

Exp- i have 3 turtles one died 3 years ago and it looked like how you described your own.

Turtles go into hibernation in response to the cold. It slows their metabolism down.

If your turtle in a warm place he has died. I am very sorry.

Fact of the matter is reptiles are not really easy pets. They actually require more care than mammals. Often pet shops sell the baby reptiles and they are already injured or ill from the shipping or the pet shop stay. Often they reptiles are too young to eat any of the foods we have available for them, their diet in the wild would be much different.

they do no longer look to be very affectionate in any respect yet could nicely be dealt with with out biting. I definitely have 3 turtles (have had them for 4 years now) and that they have got grown particularly super. they're crimson earred terapin turtles. i've got have been given them whilst they have been merely toddlers. besides, affectionate in the direction of me, no longer on an identical time as quickly as. you are able to %. them up and cope with them no subject yet they teach no indicators of love. they're neat to have nonetheless. fantastically whilst they hunt. they're in a 80 gallon tank with plastic clay rocks to chill on so as quickly as I put in some feeder fish, they pass looking! its fairly cool... Sorry, getting somewhat off subject count yet regrettably, the respond is not any.

Is he underwater all the time. How hot is inside its tank? Is the tank clean? Does he eat at least two times a day? Does he have a place to get out of the light? Make sure all of this is yes if you don't want it to be dead. It might be dead already if he isn't moving at all and if you can touch his head without it moving.

Sounds like he is dead.

Before you get your next turtle look up the care sheet for them. That will make things go a lot more smoothly.

If its eyes have "caved in" and its not moving, it's most likely dead. Slider turtles need to be kept warm to keep them healthy and alive.
