The snakes belly was white with black spots.. Does anyone have an idea what breed of snake it is? I am familiar with corn, garden, black, black racer, copperhead, cotten mouth, diamond back rattlers and coral snakes. I know some others not native to North America, but not a lot of them. Got any ideas? I am already checking out a site I learned about; this is the site if anyone else would like to use it. www.southalley.com/snakes.html . Hope this will help others.

I'm in Georgia. A 3 foot snake slithered up on me heading towards my house.

It is almost all black, but it has some hard to see brownish diamond shapes on its back. It is not a rattle snake.

I killed it, but I want to know what it is, in case I come across another one. I will know if I should kill it. There are horses on the property.

also, how long before this thing stops moving. Its freaking me out. I chopped its head off with an axe 10 mins ago, and the body is still moving, lol.

My question is ....Can rat snakes back out of tight holes they slithered into? Mine is taking awhile to get out... I'm afraid to pull on him and it's been about 24 hrs now. Thanks for your input people. Hope I can help you some day.

I have a 55 gal aquarium with two lights and my son is going to get a lizard, I have bought a 20gal tank and all that goes with it but the uv light and until I get the extra money would like to know if I could use the aquarium light? until that time. My friend has had a leopard gecko for about a month now and can hold it and walk around the house with it on her shoulder with relative ease. I got an albino at Petco yesterday and am wondering if there is a "best way" to go about socializing it? It sleeps during the day and I feel as though I should try not to disturb him then, but then at night I'm getting ready to go to bed as he's getting ready to start the day. He's quite skittish and doesn't like me to hold him. How can I get my gecko to be as mellow as my friend's gecko? Also, he seems to be oblivious to his mealworms. I've seen him eat one, but today he fell asleep watching a mealworm bury itself in the sand right in front of him. My house is loud and full of cats and my very in-your-face 10 year old brother. His tank is on our living room floor. Will it be harder to socialize him in such a choatic environment? Any tips on "gecko rearing" would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I received a turtle as a birthday present about a week ago. He's very small, only 1-1.5 inches in diameter. I'm not sure exactly what type of turtle he is but I think he's technically illegal. My friend told me that i have to fill his tank with purified water everytime I change the water...but this is a hassle and is getting to be expensive. Is there something I can get, like drops or a dissolvable tab that will make tap water inhabitable for my turtle? I don't want to hurt him, but I don't have a water purifier and buying bottled water will be expensive. Help please.
