My question is ....Can rat snakes back out of tight holes they slithered into? Mine is taking awhile to get out... I'm afraid to pull on him and it's been about 24 hrs now. Thanks for your input people. Hope I can help you some day.

yes he can back out of the log. A snake will rarely if ever put itself into a postion where it ets caught. Trying to pull him out may cause more harm than good. He can reduce his size down and come right out if he wants. When he gets out though I would take the log out of his enclosure.

I have a ball python, and from what I've heard if they can get into an area they can get themselves back out. Have you tried feeding him if he's in his cage maybe if he smells food he will come out sooner.

snakes do have the ability to back out of something but it is limited try pulling him out gently it wont hurt if he tightens his hold in there he probably wants to stay. also you can try using food to entice him out
