the hooks will eventually rust out. In most cases of swallowed or deep inbedded hooks in alligators,fish or turtles just cut the line close as possible and let it be. This is the practice given by most state wildlife officials

Yeah, there are these red things that come in a tackle box that you can stick in its mouth to help dislodge the hook, be very careful, and make sure your alligators tail is secure.
