We just got a 4 month old iguanas. We have a large tank that is pretty tall. We don't have any of the store bought accesories yet. My question is:

Is it alright to put an empty paper toll roll in his tank?

I have it in there now and he's using it to get closer to his heat lamp. I'm afraid that he might eat it.

I have been thinking for some time now about taking in a alligator as a pet. Have done alot of reading up on it and all and I am willing to take the measures needed to provide the space, enviroment, etc needed. But would like to hear from an actual owner or previous alligator owners first hand experience.

I had adopted a tarantula last year about august-ish. He ate and ate and ate, but then, he sealed him self off and then molted. Since then my Ted (tarantula) hasn't eatten. I've tried crickets, small and large, I've tried pinkies, almost everything. But he hasn't eatten since his molt. Which was about october-ish of 2005. I worry he is sick. And if so, where can I take him to get all fixed up?? Anyone have any ideas as to what I should do??

I was thinking about a gecko.Maybe a frog or lizard would be better? I want something not too expensive to care for, easy to handle, and won't live more than 10 years.

He's a red eared slider and he's only a month or so old. His shell is looking a little brownish and it looks like it's shedding little bit of skin type stuff. I know that turtles can get shell rot, I don't know if this is it, but I just noticed today and don't want it to get worse. We moved a few days ago and the move doesn't seem to have agreed with him. I haven't seen him bask at all. He's been in the water for two days straight. Advice?

I have a 2 story house, the main floor was build in brick-veneer. The breething holes are about 18 to 24" above the ground. In a corner on the south side where hydro and cable boxes gives them support, Garter Snakes have entered through the breething holes. Around 9 am as the sun shines an this part of the brick wall, I can see garter snakes sticking their head out from between the bricks. Some will come out, but I'm not sure if its all of them. I'm ready to block the space between the brick with coppermesh, but I need to be sure first that all snakes have been out. Does anybody know a way on how to attract them to come out, or whom I may ask for help? (I'm from the greater Toronto area in Canada)

i live on a small farm, the snake i saw seem to be a perfect color and no markings of any kind, it was a short snake, but large around, not a snake you could hold in your hand, it moved very fast.
