All have a sense of high maintainence, when it comes to the living conditions and temperatures.
Other than that, geckos seem to be real popular as a first time reptile.
My first reptile was a Sneider Skink.
Just make sure you do research on whatever type of reptile you decide to get. Make sure you have the money to get the required cage size, the appropriate bedding and decorations to imitate the natural enviroment for that type.
Find out the type of food they eat, and in what variety, make sure, if they eat more than one thing, you give them everything, and not make a bland diet of just crickets.

That depends on what you consider as "easy". Leopard geckos are popular because they don't climb and usually choose 1 area of their cage as a toilet so you can clean their cage easily. But...they also need heat and live food. Crested geckos are another easy keeper. They do climb, but don't require additional heat and eat strained baby food, (fruits) or Crested Gecko Diet that you mix up with water or juice.
Both become very friendly, but cresties seem to enjoy handling more, and have a velvety soft skin that doesn't feel like reptile skin at all!

I would say a leopard gecko is the best. You only need to clean the cage about once a month..I usually scoop out the poop corner once a week. I have the heat lamps set on timers. They only need to be fed a few times a week. They store food in their tail. They are really fun to watch. Mine eats crickets and mealworms...loves to be hand fed.
