We just got a 4 month old iguanas. We have a large tank that is pretty tall. We don't have any of the store bought accesories yet. My question is:

Is it alright to put an empty paper toll roll in his tank?

I have it in there now and he's using it to get closer to his heat lamp. I'm afraid that he might eat it.

I don't know much about reptiles, but i'd say yes, if you see he only eats a bit of it. If he eats a lot, it may cause something bad to happen

I have a ten year old iguana. The paper towel roll is fine if hes just hidding out in it. Keep it away from your heat lamp. My lamp got knocked over once and the cage caught on fire. He's going to get big. My spare room is now my iguanas. Have fun.

It is best to use all natural enviroment things in the cage. Iguanas are herbivores, so he will not eat the t.p. roll, but it is best to use a rock in the cage for them to get closer to the heat lamp. I always put a empty coffee can in my iguans cage so they could hide in it, but most the time they stayed right under the heat lamp.

why don,t you go outside and look for some branches with different level they he can climb up to whatever level he wants for heat. or put a good size rock in the tank make sure it don,t crack the tank but they like to climb rocks and tree branches . they also need a place that is cool they can go to if they get hot. also a hide spot a little box would be fine. Its fun using your imigination to built iguana habitat make sure it has plenty of water to drink.get some plastic or vinyl leaves decorate tank up .good luck and take good care of the iguana cause i love them!!
