I love animals hold my life always had animals, but i can't volunteer because i need money too, so anyways how can i work at the shelter and what i have to do? thank you for any answer.

A question asked repeatedly is "what kind of cat/dog food should I feed my pet?" I think some of us get angry at the well-meaning people who are recommending top shelf STORE BRANDS which are still junk. I know I used to be a person who thought I was doing good by buying the most expensive brand at the department or grocery store. Then I read the book, "Foods Pets Die For" and now I am a pet food snob. I buy only high end foods. Some people think that certain foods sold by many vets are good because the vets recommend them. Those foods used to be good until the companies were bought up by large corporations who produce mass quantities of pet foods with various names. Those companies often provide food free or at large discounts to vets and staff...so yes, they are still recommended by them. PLUS they make money on the brand they recommend.

What made you a pet food snob? And what advice can you give to the uninformed to convince them to switch to quality pet food?

My kitten caught a baby mouse but, I couldn't allow her to eat the lil thing. I have owned Ratz and mice in the past but, I now have 4 kittens. I put the lil guy in a container with alot of holes since I know they needed alot of air.. He just sits there breathing heavy but, I'm pretty sure he's going to be fine.. I just need to know since .. I have cats I cannot keep the lil guy or girl so.. Do I take him/her to the dog pound ? the one were they do not put the animal down of course..

They don't have long lives as it is.. but would that be the best option?

I was just watching the news and I saw a story that broke my heart. An older gentleman had let his dog out to go to the bathroom and he said kids around 15 years old had come up to his dog and put a 2 inch slash in him. The dog had to get 15 stitches. The man I don't believe got a good look at who the teens were. But it just made me think of how much someone in a case like this should serve jail time even if they are teens a few days would teach them a lesson. It's so sad that an animal who is helpless and not really able to defend itself could be harmed like that. Imagine what it is going through and how it can't even talk to tell you the pain it feels. I think punishment for harming animals should be comparable to if it was a person.

I'm considering getting a new pet sometime in the next couple months and sugar gliders are on my list of 'maybes'. But I want to make sure I can legally own one in Georgia. If they are not legal, can I obtain a permit?

I bought my sister a black mystery snail a month ago from petsmart and it was very active and seemingly healthy and lived in a tank with 3 but now 2 guppies and was fine but now all of a sudden it hasn't moved at all for the past 2 days! it was doing this earlier a week or so ago but moved only a little bit but now it won't move at all! any guesses or ideas what is wrong with it! we thought that it might not be getting enough food because of the other fish so we put in another little bowl alone with some food but still nothing! please help! i know it's just a small 60 cent snail but it means so much to my baby sister and i don't want her to be sad especially not with christmas coming up so please help me. happy holidays!

I thought about opening my own animal shelter but I don't know how I'd do that and my dad said most animal shelters are headed and run by volunteers. Is this true? I also heard there's a career called a cruelty investigator but I don't know how you'd get into that either or how much it'd pay. I'd love to train guide dogs, but again I don't know how good the pay would be.
