Is it really saddle cleaner or saddle polish. If it is saddle cleaner, go right ahead. If it's polish you need to use black not brown.

Seriously?? Just spend the $10 and get the saddle cleaner. Really, all you need at a minimum is saddle soap, which can cost under $10. But if you want your saddle to last longer, you'll have to invest more money than just the 10 bucks. Another thing to purchase is Neatsfoot oil, which will keep your saddle soft and supple. Both of these things together will cost over $10, but will last a long time and make your saddle last much longer. Don't risk ruining your saddle with a homemade recipe, just buy the stuff. I'll put it this way, do you want to spend $10 on the saddle cleaner or $1,000 on a new saddle after you ruin it with your homemade stuff?
