Animals are smarter than we are and have more and stronger senses. Example: I know of a person that is mentally disturbed-'not down syndrome or retarded, but different.' He and his mother had come over and when the car door opened, you could only see one foot, that's it! We didn't know who it was until he got out of the car. Our two cats were petrified, their hair stood on end, their eyes got real big with fright and they slithered away on their stomachs and didn't come back till late that night. They both new before he ever got out of the car that he was a danger to them. We didn't understand their reaction until we saw who it was. But the point is, is that, animals-like humans will choose the personality trait they 'sense' is best. Some women get along better with men and visa-versa. Haven't you heard that you must let the animal pick the family? Alot of times, people pick the wrong animal for the wrong environment that they live in. I had a brittany spaniel and 'i'm the one who fed her, raised her and spoiled her, but she chose my father. Go figure!! Just trust their senses.

I have never noticed that...I think they prefer people that they recognize as calm and loving towards them....I kinda know what u mean though, I have had women say oh my dog or cat usually doesn't like men...but for some reason all animals like me...I think cause they can sense I like them too.

I guess it has to do with authority. A dog wants to be the leader of the "pack (family)" so to say. A man takes that role most of the time obviously. Also men seem to be more of a threat to them

I think it has to do with how they are raised and what they are exposed to when they are younger. I got my female cat from one of my dads male friends, and my female hates men with a passion. She will hiss, scratch and spit at men.

They don't.. it's not about the sex of the animal... it's about the people they are used to....
