most the schools for vet assisting are 30 miles away, 1 hour. i am working full-time and don't have time to travel that far. i dont want an associate degree, i just want to find a program that will allow me to get into the career right away like a certificate. i was thinking of online vet assistant certificate or program, then volunteering at a local vet to get the 'hands-on experience' that the online program would not provide me. i see that there is a 2 semester program for highschool students, but i left highschool 4 years ago. i just want a simple program without allll these bazillion classes to take. can anyone help me??

So today I was just watching some TV when my rabbit started going crazy in her cage, stomping and shuffling around and all around making a huge racket. I went over to see what was wrong and it turns out a whole bunch of fur was just sticking out of her mouth. I scooped her up right away, flipped her onto her back so I could get a better view, and pulled out this gigantic mass of fur.

I'm so worried about her, and I don't have time to take her to the vet until this weekend. Could someone tell me what that was, and if something is wrong with her? I'd really like an answer ASAP.

Okay, I just recently bought 2 parakeet's that I belive are both male. They weren't hand raised so they're a little bit stubborn. At frist my blue one would let me pet it just on the back and not even that he hesitated ALOT the first day I tried to pet him. My green one was frightend. And then one day my friend thought he knew what he was doing and grabbed my blue one from the back it went crazy and they both flew out. Eventually we caught them. Now (3 weeks later) the blue one won't even let me touch it and is very odd and clumbsy. While me green one is timid and curious and very little let's me touch it. ON THE OTHER HAND........ my friend, is getting a guine pig for her birthday and I thought "wow that would be better than these stinking no good birds" so what do I do? I feel like giving up. But the green one seems able to handle should I give up the blue one and work with the green one, or give them both away and buy a guine pig? Please help I need your advice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went for an interview in December on Oxford Street, and some woman walked past me with a tiny little dog in her handbag. It was freezing cold that day and the poor little dog's eyes were watering, it was clearly unwell. I was so shocked! I didn't think anyone (other than the likes of Hilton, Spears, et al) would be so selfish and stupid. It made me really angry.

Has anyone else encountered such idiocy? If so, did it annoy you?

My dog is an American Eskimo. He's only 3 years old and I think he's sick. He keeps coughing and every time he barks, he gags. It's been really cold outside.. could this maybe mean he just has a cold? Or should I be more worried?

My hamster has a cage where there is a second level and there is a tube to get to that level. Well for the first week and half he was scared to go up to the top part. The first time i changed his cage a peice of plastic fell off so the tube and the top wouldnt connect all the way so there was a gap. I wasnt worried about it too much. see, Ive only had him less then 3 weeks. and he has been scared to go up there. But 2 mon. ago he was up there when i got home from dance. He was sleeping but woke up when i got home and tried to go down. He got his leg stuck 3 tmes (that i know of cause i wasnt home for an hour). He is fine but he sometimes (not all the time) lfts his leg up and sort of "drags" it. But he is running fine and climbing. Could he have possibly sprained it? plz help. all i have been getting is take him to the vet and my long time friend is a vet but i cant get a hold of her at this moment in time and my parents dont wanna pay $45....
