My dog is an American Eskimo. He's only 3 years old and I think he's sick. He keeps coughing and every time he barks, he gags. It's been really cold outside.. could this maybe mean he just has a cold? Or should I be more worried?

He may have kennel cough. Sometimes when dogs gag it means that they have worms. Either way I would take him to the vet as soon as I could.

Sounds like kennel cough and it is very contagious to other dogs, it is very uncomfortable for the dog and should be treated by antibiotics and cough medicine by the vet.

Is he on heartworm preventative. My friend had a dog who couged all the time, she took him to the vet and he had heartworms. It was to late to save him, he passed away. Hope you have your dog on heartworm preventative. It could also be kennel cough, which is not fatal.
