Get a live trap from a pet store near you since you don't want to kill the little chap. The mouse may have gotten use to you being around and not afraid to come closer to you if you are in the way of their usual running ground.

What you do with the live trap is place a cracker or piece of bread with peanut butter on it inside the trap. Place it in an area where the mouse frequents or runs by often. The bad thing about mice is that where there is one there are usually many. so you may have to set the trap several times.
When you catch the little boogers simply take the mice to an open field. Right now is a great time to release them as most farmers are plowing up their fields and most rodents love that because it brings old seed up to the surface. If you have a peanut field around you- this would be the best place if you want the little guys to live.

if you don't want to spend $20 or $30 on a live trap, get a glue trap. when the mouse gets caught on it you get like a trash can, hold the trap above it and pour veggie oil on it and the mouse will fall off. then you take the mouse away from your house a long ways and let it go. but in order for the glue trap to not kill the mouse by suffocation (its nose and mouth could get in the glue and it will not be able to breath) you have to home a lot and keep a close eye on the trap, or put it away where the mouse cannot get on it while you are not home. good luck!

I'm glad you don't want to kill it. Most all stores carry a type of live trap. It catches the mouse without harming it. But take heed, when you do catch it, take it to a wooded area far away, Otherwise, it'll come right back.

Lay down a couple of traps where ever you think the mouse is going.
This worked for me, though it took a while,
for me the mouse left its crap on the same place and I put a trap there and caught it.
