Maybe get him a gerbil or something...and put the cage high up so the dog doesn't get to it. Maybe even a gold fish. I'd have a funeral for the turtle, that always helped me when I was little.

Indeed, as two other suggested, give your brother and yourself -- and the turtle -- a ceremonial. This will help you and your brother import meaning to the life of this great being, the turtle. Always it helps to ground meaning, in some tangible form, in no less manner than grounding an electric current.

The turtle came to your brother and to you to give you both a stronger understanding of love.

Let your brother know this, let him know that the turtle has served of great purposes, and given that his work was now done, it mattered little to the way by which he left this world, and so he proceeded on.

Now, the turtle can go on to still other works and ventures and continue with his lot in life in the other worlds...knowing that you both got it, see?

Let your brother know this...

Plan a very special pet funeral for his turtle. have ceremony and everything. It will make your brother feel like you and your family cared for his pet. Let him decide if he would like to get another one, but don't force him too.
If the turtle was small enough the dog could have damaged his shell or something. who knows, maybe the turtle was scared to death. Just explain to your brother that everything happens for a reason and that his turtle is in turtle heaven.

Poor little brother. That must have been traumatic. Have a turtle funeral and then take him to the pet store for a new turtle. Just make sure to keep this one out of the dog's reach.

The best thing to do is to explain to your brother that everything has a time to go, and it was the trurtles time. That the dog got him, because it's a dogs natural instinct to do such things, then get your brother another pet. Maybe a turtle was not the best kind of pet for him. Try African Frogs. They are easy to care for and lots of fun. They even sing.

Ooo...so sorry about the loss....

1st things, the shell is hard.......in the human world. In the animal world, that shell is a very close equivalent to an egg shell. So a dog that may of bit it may have penetrated a bit too deep...2nd thing....how did it get into the cage? was it a locked chain link cage or is it like an aquarium with one side open?

once again, very sorry..

Have a special ceremony for the turtle, give it some time. Then when he's ready, take him to pick out a new one. He'll be okay after awhile. Make sure to keep it safe! ;o)

The underside of a turtle is soft, so it's certainly vulnerable. The stress would also killed the turtle. The best thing you can do is get a new one. Trade a new turtle for your dog, maybe? ;-)

i think of your concept is advantageous, yet having a canines is a extensive duty. you would be able to desire to purchase the canines (specific, you do in many situations could desire to pay to undertake!); pay for and supply him food; prepare him; power him to and pay for the vet; walk him; have (and in all probability pay for) a dogsitter; purchase him toys, a mattress, leash, collar, grooming kit; etc. The canines might bark for the time of the nighttime, poop on the floor, consume the furnishings, etc. even in case your mom does not could desire to pay and clean, she nonetheless might get very aggravated. Getting a canines could be a determination each and every physique can agree on. Like I reported, it somewhat is a large duty, and, judging by using the reality which you purely called your mom a 'dumtard,' you at the instant are not even close to to being waiting to take it on.
