So today I was just watching some TV when my rabbit started going crazy in her cage, stomping and shuffling around and all around making a huge racket. I went over to see what was wrong and it turns out a whole bunch of fur was just sticking out of her mouth. I scooped her up right away, flipped her onto her back so I could get a better view, and pulled out this gigantic mass of fur.

I'm so worried about her, and I don't have time to take her to the vet until this weekend. Could someone tell me what that was, and if something is wrong with her? I'd really like an answer ASAP.

About the vegetable oil, how can I incorporate it into her diet?

Just feed her a spoonful of it each day? She's very picky, so I don't think she'd like it. ^-^

it sounds to me like your rabbit was pulling fur for a nest to have babies... female rabbits do this to line their nests.... put a box with some hay in it in with the rabbit and see what happens.. :)

Timothy Hay should be the main ingredient in your rabbits diet. It keeps their digestive system running smooth. If you are also finding their poop-pellets stuck together by a bit of hair, it's an indication of needing more Hay in their diet.

The other answerer was right... Rabbits don't really vomit, so an obstruction is a dangerous thing.

rabbits can't gak up the hair like cats can, so hairballs can be really dangerous. The veg oil idea is a good one, or a petroleum laxative will get it through too.

Rabbits cant regurgitate (vomit) anything that is why rabbits can die from a hairball it stays in their lower digestive system. I forgot what is is called.
