When do hens start laying eggs? Is it okay to keep chickens just for the summer, or do I have to keep them all year round? When can I move my chickens into a coop? Do they need heat? HELP!

Are there written laws on animal cruelty? I am strongly against animal cruelty, but do people actually get arrested for animal abuse?

My rabbit, Cosmo, lives inside of a nice wood hutch and matching bunny run (3' x 3' x 3') and to top it all off, it's inside of my room. so he's always disinfected (his tile floor and blankets) and has great temps to relax and play in. But he always chews the wood! I can't stand the sounds when I'm sleeping, so I sometimes go out into the livingroom or hold him for an hour or so while we both fall asleep. Bitter Apple seems to work, but it doesn't last long enough. As some of you know, it's not cheap. Is there anything else that's safe to make him stop chewing (for more than a day) thank you!

I have a awsome horse! he is a white and grey appy. He has a big gash on his leg and i think it's because he is fight ing with other horses. I don't really know what to do, should i move him to a better pasture? Should i be worried? Should I freak out and call 911? I've never had to deal with the horses fighting and i don't know who is picking on him so what should i do?

I am asking this because my friend has a hamster gender:male and she put it in a cage with another male hamster and they both began to do sexual things. I also saw a report about animals in other continents and countrys as apes and such are acting in homosexual ways.

An associate of mine was in town for business, and asked if she could leave her cat at my place for one day. She explained that it was too cold to leave the cat in the car while she ran errands, and didn't want to spend money on a hotel room for 24 hours.

Supposedly her brother's flight was delayed, and he wouldn't be home until the following day, at which time she would stay with him.

Her cat is older, and has been in the her family for years. Although I love animals, and wanted to watch the cat, I was uncomfortable doing so because of the cats age, and also, if something happened to her pet while in my care, I could be blamed.

I'm sure most people would have let the cat stay for one day, and not think it was a big deal. But I view family pets similar to children, and I'm uncomfortable watching either unless I'm close to the owners or parents, and familiar with the pet or child. Was I wrong for not watching her pet? What would you have done?

Last week I answered a question about horses being slaughtered and their meat being passed off as beef in the U.S. People are so misinformed! I have had horses my entire life (almost 25yrs) and have been going to horse auctions since before I could walk as well. I know first hand what goes on there and yes, horses go to slaughter everyday most likely in every state across the U.S. But what people are mis judging is that the large majority that go there need to! I myself own 22 horses currently and of those 22, 4 of them came out of the loose pen of 3 different sale barns. One was dropped off by an elderly man who could no longer afford to keep the 3yr old gelding but I spoke with him and found out the horse was broke to ride and a calm horse. I took the chance of trusting him and he is now the best horse on the farm. Many of my young family members ride him by themselves! One of the others is a mare that belonged to the wife of an auction barn owner. The horse attacked her and put her

My friend has owned several small bunnies and, although she takes very good care of them (she's not rough or forgetful of them), they all seem to die within a three-month period. Why is this? Is she doing something wrong or are little bunnies just not very hardy creatures?
