Do you prefer Gypsy Vanners or Appaloosa for looks? i know there is a lot more stuff you need to check for in a horse, but just looks, which one do you think is the cutest?

I think they are both gorgeous- I own both. Besides feathering they are somewhat both so eye catching and similar- with both you have so many patterns and colorings. But I would have to say Gypsy Vanners have the cutest foals.

Overall I prefer the look of the Gypsy Vanner better, but every now and then there will be an Appaloosa or two that I just fall in love with because of their coloring. I guess it all depends on the markings of the individual horse.

If you're talking strictly for looks between the Gypsy Vanner and the Appaloosa, I'll go for the Appie. Best looking Appie I ever saw was a stallion named Navajet that stood at stud at Pierce College in California in the 1970's. Big horse, very well conformed, absolutely jet black with a white blanket over his rear quarters, black spots the size of a silver dollar or a little larger. Absolutely stunning horse. I think that for stunning flashy looks, it's pretty hard to beat a black Appaloosa with a white blanket.

I love the way the Gypsy moves and the hair, they look like a fairytale. But I would prefer the Appaloosa because they can be quite stunning and they tend to be quite a few hands taller and I love tall horses.

Gypsy vanner- I own a gypsy drum actually (not fully registered because she has too much belgian in her so not enough feathers). That is the taller version- she is 17.2 full draft and tobiano.
Love the temperment, looks, and most have decent movement (I show 1st level dressage and plan on moving up).
I really don't like the looks of apps. I am more of a paint/pinto person. Apps just look like a bird came and crapped on their hind end :) Plus most of them are built more western and I like a more english type horse.

I don't like some appys color but some are really pretty.Most appys look like someone puked on em! For the most part I would say a Gypsy Vanner. They are really graceful and pretty with the feathering and colors.

I love all horses but as being in the US and not a whole lot of Vanners here to have-I like Appy's.Both are beautiful but if you live in the US an Appy is more available financially and more accepted in the show ring due to that.
